Update: The Reddit poster has admitted that they made it all up. Looks like we were right to be cynical, and, as per usual, this is another fine example of why you shouldn't believe everything that you read on the internet.
Still, Arthur Morgan versus aliens... We wouldn't say no.
Original story: Another week, another frankly ridiculous Rockstar rumour. When it's not Grand Theft Auto 6 "leaks", it's crazy Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC theories, and this latest one is a corker. Coming straight outta Reddit, a poster claims that they know an environmental artist over at Rockstar, who's apparently working an absurd-sounding Red Dead Redemption 2 story DLC.
Supposedly, the additional (non-canon, we presume) story will see Arthur Morgan deal with aliens. That's right, honest-to-god aliens. The poster doesn't have much more information than this, but we're not sure that we need it. While Rockstar has a history of including alien-based Easter Eggs in its games -- and let's face it, Undead Nightmare was a mental idea for DLC -- this is still something that we'd have to see to believe.
The second part of the rumour seems more grounded in reality, at least. It states that Rockstar has also been working on a full remake of the original Red Dead Redemption, which will utilise all of the tech from Red Dead Redemption 2. This isn't the first time we've heard of this 'Red Dead Remake', either. Rumours have been swirling for months, and back in December of last year, a Red Dead Redemption 2 audio glitch seemed to suggest that it's happening, or that such a project had been in the works at one point.
The poster concludes by saying that the Red Dead Redemption remake is pencilled in for a December 2020 or January 2021 release date. That's a long while away, so if there really is any truth to this rumour, we're going to be waiting for quite some time before we get confirmation. We assume Arthur will be gunning down the alien menace before then, though.

Well a Red Dead remake is pretty plausible given that so much of the game has been remade anyway. I quite like the sound of an aliens dlc as well and after them not bothering with GTAV it'd be nice to get some proper dlc for this one
Don't think it makes sense. Where would they find the devs to work on GTA6, Red Dead Online, the story DLC and Red Dead remake.
Also, it makes no sense for them to invest this big. I think this is hardly a game where many people will want that much more from. Just look at how RD Online is doing.
I thought the alien DLC thing was going to happen for GTA V, what with the ufo part collectibles, the alien ‘hallucination’ mission and actual ufos in the game.
The remake seems plausible as a lot of the work is already done. I’d love to see it, think I actually preferred the original.
Never even started 2. I just cant justify the time sink. Maybe in a year or so. The RDR remake would be perfect for me. Even though its a large game its waaay more condensed than2

Its mental that the first Redemption still hasn't come out on PC, or for that matter PS4. Feels like leaving money on the table.

Maybe just maybe that's what Bluepoint are working on. They said that their next game is more of a reimaging then a like for like remake.

Aliens would be cool. RDR1 had zombies, so I could imagine an alien DLC also working well. However, GTA5 never got any hefty single player DLC, so I'm very doubtful of this rumour.

I figured it was going to be aliens after finding the one cabin where meteors killed everybody inside.
But forget a remake of RDR just put the original on PSVR.
I wouldn't say for certain, but it's a lot more believable than the GTAVI 'rumours'.
Wasn't there a rumour that they planned some alien/ufo stuff as story mode dlc,but ended up rehashing it into GTA online? Given take-two's recent statements about smaller/faster story campaigns & more (mtx ridden), online dlc, I wouldn't hold my breath!
As for an RDR 1 remake, yeah it'd be great...IF they went back to an RDR 1 type control scheme, &/or minus the continual horse saddle gun swaps, fast travel & other game mechanics that made it simpler,but better gameplay experience!
Like has been said-would PC/PS4 be enough of a market for Take two for an RDR 1 remake? (Would XB owners double dip given they had RDR already?)
Truth in all of this may somewhat explain why R* seems a bit out to lunch with RDRO. That plus, hopefully, some of their staff working on GTA 6 may have reduced the staff working on RDRO to possibly a small unit.
Remasters and cowboys and aliens are all nice however GTA 6 is what i most want.
@AdamNovice Rockstar did make like 90% of the assets for this potential remake already, I don't think it's the BluePoint's new job.
After playing RDR2 I really have no interest in returning to the the first game. For me 2 was superior in every way. If we got DLC I would want it more grounded into the established reality of the game I don’t mind a bit of outrageous Easter egg stuff, but a full blown Alien story doesn’t sound fitting.
I play Red Dead Online every day and it certainly isn't dead. The servers are always chock full of players but it's just that the map is so big that you hardly see them. It's a lot more friendly now when you do bump into people, though.
Makes a refreshing change from having to look out for jets, flying bikes and DeLoreans in GTA Online.
Would love a RDR1 remake. Much preferred it to RDR2.
Honestly thought rdr2 was better then the first. All the horse riding didn't bother me when i had gorgeously built world to do it in. Rockstar keeps getting better but hey, the haters need something to complain about lol.

@nessisonett Instead of talking to everyone just unload with a shotgun at point blank range as you pass them, makes each journey much more fun.
If Red Dead 2 had the snappy action feel of the first it would be a much better game. The lag and general unresponsiveness destroyed any desire for a second playthrough from me unfortunately. Far too tedious.

I hope they do go for dlc, the new Austin setting with all the towns closed for plague/infection has to be set up for something. I keep meaning to try online again, great game

@Flaming_Kaiser Idk I played through the campaign twice and never really got frustrated with the controls. Just as good/bad as the first one imo.
