Spider-Man has the potential to be the best-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive of the generation, and it’s going to pick up a lot of sales based on its brand alone. It’s important, then, that Sony and Insomniac Games come up with some good box art to catch the attention of more casual consumers – and according to Insomniac Games art director Jacinda Chew, work is currently being “finalised” on the cover.
“It’s going to pop on store shelves nicely,” she beamed on Twitter. “Can’t wait to unveil it.” Spider-Man is still on track for a 2018 release, so hopefully we see a lot more of the game soon.

A glow-in-the-dark case will certainly pop. They should've had those at CES.
I cannot wait to play this & God Of War & obviously Sony's other 2018 exclusive's, but I'm thinking these two will release early 2018.
@JoeBlogs Going by what I've seen of it, it's all liklihood it'll be a 12 at most.
If inFamous 1 and 2 are anything to go by, I’ll be passing on this. Gameplay looked dull and repetitive spiced up with pre animated action sequence, like a bad sonic game. Looks very pretty though.
Hopefully a demo will be available, otherwise zero chance of buying without a play test first.
This and god of war seem way over hyped and actually look as boring as their recent predecessors. GoW got boring after III; probably why Sony had to be convinced on producing a new one.
@JoeBlogs haha, I though insomniac made infamous? Well that told me.
Doesn’t change that it looks boring, repetitive and cut-away heavy though.
Looking forward to this... Pre-ordered it anyway.
@DLB3 just watched it again to check.
By the end of a 9 minute video it already seems repetive and so damn boring. Nothing inspired or cool at any point. Looks like spiderman 2 on GameCube that’s borrowed some elements from Arkham Asylum.... unsuccessfully. The whole thing is way too reliant on QTE events, more like real-time events peppered throughout a QTE game.
@AnimeGamerFan I won’t be wrong. To me, it looks dull and in-original. I’m not saying others won’t find it fun, I imagine kids and fans of spiderman will love it. As a a stand alone game, it doesn’t look worth the time.
There’s plenty I’m looking forward to on PS4 this year, this however is not one of them.
@DLB3 that one mission pretty much covered everything you see In a spiderman film/comic/animation and was obviously intended to “show-off” the game.
I think it more showed it up.
@JoeBlogs spiderman doesn't kill, so I imagine it will be suitable for children.
@KingSandyRavage
It really has the potential to be the best-selling exclusive, but Uncharted 4 sales are huge now, the same will happen with The Last of Us 2 and God of War.
Anyway, PS4 gamers will win with so many exclusives.
@PS_Nation not bait at all. My genuine opinion.
The cover will probably have some kind of shiny or textured image to try and set it apart from other Spiderman games. I’m pretty excited about this game. One of 3 or 4 sure purchases this year for me.
On the subject, the most recent cover art to really “pop” imo is the Assassins Creed Origins gold ed. Man, I see that in the store and I just have to pick it up and admire it. It (almost) makes me want to drop the $90 for that edition of the game.
The other really great cover this past year was Yakuza Kiwami. Such a nice steelbook case with awesome art for a $30 game. I pick that up in the store too and admire it.
I like it when the company puts time and effort into a nice cover or case. It just adds that extra little spice to having the physical copy in your collection.
Enough with the damn teasing already.
I'd rather have a solid release date then this teasing of announcement, for a cover we wont see till December at this rate.
@KingSandyRavage does have a point when saying the game looks un-original; however, there aren't many original games coming out these days. You look at the mechanics of almost all AAA titles and they follow suit and expand upon other games. If you want unique, you have to go indie. Multi Plat providers such as EA and Ubisoft churn out the same stuff time after time after time. However, as for the new Spiderman game, I must disagree about it looking boring, it has the potential to be excellent from what I've seen. I need to see more than a few brief video clips to make an informed decision though. Insomniac are a good fit to produce a good Spiderman game though, they are a talented and somewhat underrated studio. Got my fingers and toes crossed for this one. Intrigued at how it may turn out. 🤔
