Remember when people questioned whether Crash Bandicoot could possibly be relevant in 2017? Well, the orange furred fave has done okay for himself this Christmas, with the N. Sane Trilogy climbing up the UK sales charts into sixth position over the holidays. This is a muted British best sellers list due to the lack of new releases, but Call of Duty: WWII has continued its killer run of form, topping for the eighth successive week with a 29 per cent increase in sales.

And GTA V is still in the charts. Unbelievable.
I’m a little surprised Super Mario Odyssey isn’t higher. I thought Mario always sold like gangbusters.
@jgrangervikings1 The UK has never been a strong market for Nintendo — even its biggest games rarely push impressive numbers for extended periods of time.
Not surprised about crash I work for Tesco and it dropped down to £20 over Xmas week. So ghost recon wildlands, Rocket League collectors edition and battlefield 1 revolution went to £21.
Crash shows mario who's the boss of platformers
@jgrangervikings1 Not really, not since the Wii/DS days. Remember when Knack outsold Mario 3D World?
Thanks Crash and Mario for disrupting the usual shooty footy.
Battlefront in 3rd position. Embarrassing.
There is not one game i like in this list. Maybe Mario but i have not played it.
@jgrangervikings1
It's the UK. As @Mahe points out, even Knack (worldwide sales estimated at 1.87m) managed to outsell Mario 3D World (worldwide sales 5.7 million) in the first week they were out in the UK. Nintendo have always struggled in the UK mainly down to their own mismanagement. Switch seems to be doing a bit better though.
@electrolite77 well they’re kinda scewed due to not just mismanagement and irrelevancy due to Wii U n to a smaller extent 3DS as people just don’t overly care in the UK that is for Portable devices... but there’s one thing in the UK Sony just overshadows everyone in terms of Systems and market share in the UK if you’re gonna get a System it’s gonna be PS4/PS4 Pro...
And yes the misspelling of a word in that paragraph was intentional...
@wiiware to be fair
The game costs less and I’m sure is discounted harder while Mario Odyssey it’s full price and will stay that way for a bit since the Kyoto Based Company is not a fan of discounts...
Remember when people questioned whether Crash Bandicoot could possibly be relevant in 2017? I member!
It proves that many people really care about 3D platformers. We need more games of the genre.
I really want more Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Ape Escape and Jak and Daxter. Spyro really should come back too. Sony should buy the rights of Spyro.
The Banidcoot still holding strong even in the eyes of Super Mario Odyssey! That's strong even though it's UK we're talking about here.
@PS_Nation Does it? Or does it prove that nostalgia works like magic? There have been other great platformers, like Tearaway, which didn't sell well at all.
@naruball Maybe you are right too, I just want more 3D platformers.
Btw, Tearaway is really great, I loved the game. It's really sad the fact that didn't sell well.
The top 3 games have all been bundled with PS4 consoles, and continue to be, so I bet that contributes to these positions. I've been trying to buy a PS4 for a couple of weeks, but I won't until I can get one that doesn't come with any of those 3 games or a bloody playlink game as I don't want them!
@GravyThief why wouldn't you want to buy a PS4 that comes with a free game you could just trade in or sell?
@dark_knightmare2 because I'd rather it came with a game (or games) that I want to play, rather than the hassle of selling them on. There have been other deals with games I want and an extra controller, so I'm just waiting for them to appear again. Selling on eBay is a pain in the backside, and that's before eBay and PayPal take their massive cut.
@PS_Nation Pepperidge Farm remembers!
@naruball Which is a real shame iliked it better then Crash sorry Crash fans.
@Derpie1
Sony got it dead right into the UK from the start. They were the first of the platform holders to not treat the UK like an afterthought, putting lots of effort into marketing and courting retail and the press. Nintendo didn't even handle their own distribution until 2002. They don't stand a chance now.
@electrolite77 they had it more w the Wii era but since Sony has a strong hold on the market in the UK
Nintendo in the UK is similar to Microsoft in Japan
Like why are they there?
@naruball Nostalgia is indeed a very powerful thing. Some companies run on it.
It's a classic for a reason and true classics stay alive. People will always turn to something they know will be good. With the right package and marketing there will always be an audience!
In 2011 Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' was still selling 10.000 copies each week!
@Derpie1
They're not that badly off. Not even close. 😉
