Rocksmith 2014 Edition

The music game genre may have flopped like a manufactured boy band, but Ubisoft’s guitar guide game Rocksmith has shredded out a niche all of its own. As such, it’s no surprise to see the series make a comeback with Rocksmith 2014 Edition, which is set to release on the PlayStation 3 later this year.

Much like its predecessor, the title will see you plugging a real guitar (or bass guitar) into your console for some riff-heavy action. In addition to a fresh selection of songs and tutorials, though, the sequel will include a ‘Session Mode’ that will allow you to jam in realtime alongside a group of computer-controlled band mates. It sounds ambitious, but could be awesome if it works.

The title’s due out in October, and will be available with or without the Real Tone Cable adapter. Are you a fan of the original release? Are you eager to pull out your picks and give this a go? Let us know in the comments section below.
