Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has got his fancy satellite navigation set pointed at Silverstone. Last week, Sony confirmed that it will be descending on the British race track on 15th May in order to reveal the future of Polyphony Digital’s simulation series. That reveal is rumoured to include a brand new sequel for the PlayStation 3 – and, overnight, the platform holder’s French division all but confirmed the news.
As spotted by the eagle eyed folks over at The Sixth Axis, the regional homepage boasts a teaser image for next week’s event, alongside a proud as punch PS3 logo. It pretty much confirms what we’ve been hearing for weeks: that Gran Turismo 6 will be a current generation game. Previously, Worldwide Studios bigwig Michael Denny let the news loose, and the title has raced onto several retail websites since.
We’re still not convinced that skipping the PlayStation 4 is the right move, but we’ll get a better idea of what the publisher’s planning in a few days. What are you hoping that the future holds for the Gran Turismo franchise? Let us know in the comments section below.

Is it a coincidence that Sony are announcing a huge vita game on the same day? Come on Gran Turismo Vita.
@chazaroonie Possibly not, no.
@chazaroonie Ooohw god! If so i will have tears of happiness:D
@get2sammyb What do you think that big game vita game is then? I love my ps3 but with my work at the moment i have a hard time playing at home ( I need to play in train...)
Uh wow, idk if I'm impressed more by their confidence or by the game itself. That's half the battle when consumers don't necessarily trust Sony right now. Hopefully this is the first in a long line of really solid, beautiful games (with real-life demand for them lolol)
Really good move!
Release date...probably 2018...LOL
I'd say there is maybe a 20% chance this is comming on vita as well. I think the Vita's big announcement is going to be an established third party franchise that has yet to appear on the handheld.
@Sanquine No idea. I personally hope it's Minecraft.
I really really hope it's a GT6 crossplay/buy release I wouldn't bet on it though because it took them ages to develop the game engine on PS3.. it might be too focused to easily port over to Vita.
@get2sammyb - you left off the after Minecraft.
