Gran Turismo 6

Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi has got his fancy satellite navigation set pointed at Silverstone. Last week, Sony confirmed that it will be descending on the British race track on 15th May in order to reveal the future of Polyphony Digital’s simulation series. That reveal is rumoured to include a brand new sequel for the PlayStation 3 – and, overnight, the platform holder’s French division all but confirmed the news.

As spotted by the eagle eyed folks over at The Sixth Axis, the regional homepage boasts a teaser image for next week’s event, alongside a proud as punch PS3 logo. It pretty much confirms what we’ve been hearing for weeks: that Gran Turismo 6 will be a current generation game. Previously, Worldwide Studios bigwig Michael Denny let the news loose, and the title has raced onto several retail websites since.

We’re still not convinced that skipping the PlayStation 4 is the right move, but we’ll get a better idea of what the publisher’s planning in a few days. What are you hoping that the future holds for the Gran Turismo franchise? Let us know in the comments section below.
