Grand Theft Auto V is following in the footsteps of the Yakuza franchise, and adding three playable protagonists to its open world. Game Informer magazine just broke the news – and revealed the very first artwork of the stars courtesy of its exclusive cover story.
Those that purchase the publication will find 18 pages of information on the new characters, the “groundbreaking” ways in which they are implemented, and a whole lot more about Los Santos itself – something Rockstar Games is describing as its “biggest open world to date”.
Expect plenty more details to be outed soon. In the meantime, admire the new artwork embedded to the right.

I'm hyped. I really like open world games that switch protagonists but have a consistent overarching story — I think the Yakuza games do this particularly well.
Yakuza 4 is the game that immediately sprang to mind for me. I think this is an interesting direction for GTA, and it could be a one that really evolves the story aspect. I might be a minority but I've always thought GTA games have had pretty disjointed and flat plots. This could give it some dynamic.
@ShogunRok I agree. I wonder how the game will be structured? Theoretically, they could do Call of Duty-style character hopping, but I'm expecting three mini-campaigns like Yakuza 4.
@get2sammyb Three interlocking campaigns could work well, given how big this sandbox world is supposed to be. Needless to say I'm looking forward to hearing the new info in a few hours!
Ooh!
Nope, still not interested.
@Paranoimia How come you don't like GTA, man? Not a dig — just genuinely curious. What don't you like about it?
For it to be like Yakuza would be pretty awesome considering that game rocks
@Paranoimia at least im not alone i find gta boring
I never played GTA4 =)))....Red Dead Redemption was solid, but i didn't beat it....Rockstar games have something boring in them. Vice City was the last really fun game made by them. Starting from San Andreas Rockstar's games have become boring and tedious =))...
Can't say I'm a GTA fan these days either. Lost me at 3 really. Loved 2.
Vice City was very cool, and Rockstar certainly know how to create a game world, but GTA just ends up boring me to be honest, or I end up just screwing around. Perhaps it's an inability to relate to the characters etc. I'm not sure, just not my cuppa.
