Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 sold an outrageous 1 million copies in 24 hours at US retailer GameStop. Company president Tony Bartel revealed the number to Bloomberg Businessweek, adding that it was the outlet’s largest launch of all time. Amazon echoed the executive’s comments, noting that the first-person shooter was the most pre-ordered title in the digital retailer’s history.
The comments follow in the footsteps of Blockbuster UK claiming that it sold 10,000 copies of the sequel in five minutes across its 450 British stores. We should get the full first-week figures in the coming days, but our advice would be not to bet against black.

No surprise.
Favourable reviews keep pouring in and the game is turning new players and haters on to CoD. It's genuinely giving gaming snobs a hard time to come up with actual criticisms rather than the 'same old' argument.
I've been a bit of a CoD hater at times, but I'm happy to say that this is money well spent. It's been very enjoyable so far.
@KALofKRYPTON I've never really understood the hate that the series gets. At the end of the day, they are very enjoyable shooters.
@get2sammyb
As I say, it's largely snobbery and some peoples unending quest to 'be different', rather than accept that they are adept games with high production values they'd rather focus on the popularity being a negative thing, ranting kids on mic's and a myriad of other perceived issues they'd like to have with the game.
A good quote I read yesterday:
'It seems that most people hating on Call of Duty games don't play Call of Duty'.
Which I'd argue is fairly accurate. Another review points out that we'd rather root for the underdog, not a series that's been dominant for 5 years.
I am getting this on Wii U.
Guess the future ain't so black for Activision.
A Call of Duty game selling well? Shocking
Anyways, I'm really interested in this one. Treyarch pulled out all the stops for this one. Seriously, Mass Effect-like decisions in Call of Duty is pretty neat.
Some people who hate COD actually play them though
@HarmoKnight Like gamer denial, closet CODing! hahaha
