Subnautica is a survival game set in an alien ocean teeming with otherworldly life. Exploring Planet 4546B’s oceanic biomes is a memorable experience, and collecting materials in order to craft increasingly intricate technology is satisfyingly addictive. Overlooked by some gamers, Subnautica made waves with those who did play it and certainly deserves more love.
Taking on the role of Detective Itō Ayami as she searches for her missing partner, Tokyo Dark is a point and click adventure set in a seedy part of town. Plus, there’s also a mysterious mask and Itō’s mental state to worry about. It’s a brilliantly composed thriller, the perfect blend of player choice and mystery – a definite must play.
Two Point Hospital puts the player in control of a series of run-down hospitals whose doctors are up against a plethora of wacky pandemics (for example, Jest Infection sees patients turning into clowns). A spiritual successor to the legendary Theme Hospital, this is a business management sim that is as funny as it is in-depth.
Blasting shuffling armies of undead makes for fantastic gameplay, and Zombie Army 4: Dead War is no exception to that rule. Though the main campaign is engaging, the real star of Dead War is the fast-paced co-op mode, which serves up a guaranteed thrill for any team of zombie hunters.
