One of the Mario Kart and Smash Bros' multiple entries really should be on my list but as they are all so strong they just manage to cancel each other out.

These are all very varied titles coming in. I'm honestly surprised the servers aren't melting because theres something Nintendo here. Genuinely, always got that impression.

My votes came with a caveat, as I would put something up there that isn't released yet that I've had a fair chunk of time with, but that would also end with an insta-ban XD

Long time NL member and occasional PS lurker here.

It's a hard one this, a bit like trying to choose my top 5 Beatles songs. Being a Sega kid I missed a lot of the NES and SNES classics when when they came out so my first real experience with them was on the Wii Virtual Console. Games like Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Link to the Past and Yoshi's Island (especially Yoshi's Island) are among my all time favourites but since I never experienced them at their time of release when the impact of playing them would have been far greater I'm not going to include them.I'm going to go with games from the 64 era onwards that I played when they were new and the ones that I've simply enjoyed the most at the time rather than what I necessarily think are the best. For variety I'll pick only one Mario game.

I would have liked to have been more interesting in my picks but what can I say,I loved those games.

If I was to make this top 5 next year, it's likely Breath of the Wild will feature. I've also got a good feeling about Arms, it's going to surprise a lot of people I think. If I end up having as much fun with that as I did with Splatoon it'll surely feature.

That's a tough one (as is any top X lists). Think I'll keep away from Wii U stuff here (I could add a few, but I think it is too soon for me to be sure they stand the test of time) and go with what has left a lasting impression with me. So, in no particular order, my list is:

I'd say I missed off at least the same number of games again that I could substitute in for any of them, but I'll go with this list as it has a good mix. Zelda is the newest entry on that list, but as it is (imo) a more polished version of ALTTP I feel comfortable adding it.

So out of the 91 games in the cup (I made an admin error and a game is listed twice in comment 80) - 33 Have been given a bye straight into round 2 as they accrued multiple votes in the prolouge!
