@KratosMD it's not insane it's greed that got them. They saw the success Nintendo had with the NES and SNES Classic the past few holiday season they figured they jump on that bandwagon as well. Difference was they tried to cut corners

@KratosMD Well let's compare Nintendo to Sony for a second. The big thing when it comes to the classic systems is licensing. Most of Nintendo's classic games that resonate with fans are for the most part first party. Stuff like Mario,. Zelda, Star Fox, Metroid etc. While yes there are some third party, Mega Man, Ninja Gaiden, Contra etc.
Sony on the other hand most classic games that resonate with fans are third party Metal Gear Solid, Symphony of the Night, Crash, Spyro, Final Fantasy, Tekken I can go on and on. There are very few Sony own games people would consider classic yes you have Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo, and such but what that translates into is Sony has to make more deals with the third party companies such as Konami, Naughty Dog, Square, Activision, Namco etc. And in the end it's up to those companies if they want to let Sony use those games and then for how much, which. Nintendo doesn't have to worry about since the bulk of classic games are. Nintendo's own.
Which means in the end Sony has to come up with an economial way to present the classic systems to consumers. Which is why I suspected they went with an free open source emulator instead of making their own and why alot of beloved games like SotN wasn't included to keep costs down. Otherwise they probably would have ended up with a PS Classic that costed alot more then people would have complained about that. "Well Nintendo's classic systems only cost $80. Sony is crazy charging $200."
At least that's my theory.
