Thinking about buying the later for PS Vita, but wondering whether I'd miss out on story/carry-over content by not starting with the former.

@Kogorn733 Nah, Trails of Cold Steel takes place in the same world, but it tells a different story. You can jump straight into it and not worry about missing out on anything significant.

@Kogorn733 Late, but... It's definitely more satisfying to have played Trails in the Sky first because there's numerous callbacks to Sky characters/events during Cold Steel. None of them are important to CS's plot though, so it's not strictly necessary. There's also one character who played a semi-important role in both (their actions in Sky actually indirectly set up the plot of CS). Additionally if we ever get a confirmed release of CS3 for the west, Sky characters are back and the overarching plot of both series will be converging in the next couple games. If you get invested in CS, you're probably going to want to play Sky.

Then you can join the rest of us being salty that the Crossbell series (another part of the overarching plot) never got localized :')

If you want to talk to me at length about a visual novel or non-real time combat JRPG, feel free to hmu on discord - sir geckcellent#0551. Chances are I've played it and have some major salt to share, lol. See profile for genre preferences?? o:
