Hi all have been teaching my boy the joys of retro gaming. He's 13 and gets so worked up over fortnight got me thinking about when I have done the same. Start u off dizzy the egg the hardest game ever

@QualityGeezer never a controller BUT i did once get so angry with a game i took it out of the XBOX (it was Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast if your wondering) and threw it out of my window

i had to go to the house across the street and ask to look for it in their garden, it was a little embarrassing so i learnt my lesson there

EDIT oh i just thought i would say as you mentioned Fortnite, my 8 year old Nephew was playing it the other day and he got killed and he got so angry that he hit his bed frame and broke his hand

needless to say my brother has now banned him from the game but kids now a days REALLY need to learn to calm down

@Fullbringchigo that's hilarious and not at the same time depending on perspective. My mate unplugging his controller and walking away whilst 1 down on FIFA always got too me

I don't I've ever damaged anything due to my anger from gaming. I usually just shout a load of random swear words!

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Lotus Turbo challenge on the Amiga. I threw my joystick at the wall and was never allowed to forget it. Fair play it was a stupid thing to do but I was in that emo teenage dipstick period of life. I never managed to beat stage 4 either.

Since then I try to keep my cool.

If it makes you feel any better, we never got past stage 3 with the fog. The password PEA SOUP is forever burned into my memory, lol.

@FullbringIchigo idiotic. That's the average Fifa gamer.

@LieutenantFatman The time limits were a joke and so unforgiving.

When I was like seven years old I think. I just don't understand people who break their controllers or consoles when they get that mad. In the end it's just means you have to buy another one. If gaming makes you that angry then maybe the person shouldn't be gaming.

Usually I just swear like a sailor. I've been told that it was hilarious when I played Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.

Agreed, games were much tougher in those days but this was one of the toughest as I recall.

Never. I'm not a child, and I don't throw temper tantrums.

There are a few games I've... needed to play in isolation, though, because apparently my language turns somewhat salty when I get excessively frustrated.

I don't recall a single time where I have been so enraged that I throw a controller and risk breaking something. Its not because I have never been frustrated or annoyed at something, its just that I have never been angry or frustrated to the point that I lose control. I have found that turning the game off or, at the very least, trying a different mode, different lobby etc to get away from what ever could be annoying me.

Its the same approach I have to Trophies/achievements or particularly difficult games. Instead of getting angry or frustrated over attaining a Trophy or beating a boss/stage at a certain difficulty level, I move on, forget about the criteria for that Trophy, change to a different game etc and sometimes, I will return and try again or just not bother at all. It really depends on the trophy/achievement, the game and whether I was enjoying it enough in the first place.

Point is, if something is making you that angry, that frustrated etc, then move on, go and do something else instead and maybe come back at a later date when you have calmed down. There is no need to keep doing something that is making you angry. Its better to walk away - maybe forever if its that annoying and/or do something different, play a different game for example.

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

I think competitive online games are where the real aggressive tendencies happen. My son in particular cries and has broken 2 tablets and a phone. He has learnt a tiny bit to cope.

Personally I know I am average at best in games like Rocket League and Online fps so am happy with a few goals or kills here and there and can except a pasting now and again. What I dislike are random teammates being nasty or in Rocket Leagues case having a go when it was their own fault. That's when someone is on the verge of smashing something - all self regulation goes out of the window. No better way to motivate your teammates than too tell them they are all crap when it your own fault.
