I recently got Earth's 'Full Upon Her Burning Lips' record and I want to get Led Zeppelin I. Any recommendations out there from the people?

Unfortunately my record player is broken beyond repair for two years now. The end of this month I will finally have the money to buy a new one and I can't wait.

I'll probably celebrate it by buying a new album too. Don't know which one yet, though...

Where do people tend to pick up their records from?

I have quite a few original LPs, particularly from The Who and The Smiths, and largely bought them off eBay as they have to describe the condition pretty well. A couple I've picked up in shops have turned out to skip loads which is always annoying. But seeing as I tend to get vinyl for the artwork as much as anything, I've become happy enough to pick up remasters rather than trying to find reasonably priced, good condition originals.

I do have a few new albums on vinyl too and it is definitely appreciated when they through a download code in there too. My favourite of recent times was the OST for the San Junipero episode from Black Mirror. Invada Records do some beautiful OST albums.

I've got Silent Hill 1, Celeste and Katamari Damacy on Vinyl and Silent Hill 2 in the post. Recently purchased The Microphones - The Glow Pt 2 from some German music store, the only place I could get it. My setup is an Audio Technica LP120X attached to just a couple of bookshelves. Most proud of my Spiderland - Slint LP and Marty Robbins - Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs.

@SnowTiesAreCool Currently wearing my Goo T-shirt lol, love that and Daydream Nation but wasn't a fan of Dirty. Curiously, I'm playing Silent Hill 1 atm and noticed a list of teachers in the school with the names of Moore, Ranaldo and Gordon...

@Thrillho I get most of my stuff from Amazon. I might check out the Black Mirror OST stuff as I watched series 1-2 and enjoyed them. What else do you listen to? I recently picked up some bluegrass stuff and am currently considering Led Zeppelin.

@Octane Cool! Who else do you like? I recently picked up Led Zeppelin's 'Physical Graffiti' ,loving it so far.

@Draco_V_Ecliptic Sorry, forgot to reply to this before.

I listen to a fair range of stuff with punk rock and classic rock probably the most but I also like electronic music and Motown/funk etc too. I have a fair few classic rock albums on vinyl but good condition original copies can go for insane amounts; an original copy of Dark Side of the Moon will set you back a fair bit!

I buy some new albums on vinyl if I really like the artwork as I have frames to put them in at home and I like how easy it is to swap them in and out.

Black_Swordsman

@Thrillho That sounds really cool, putting your vinyl in frames man. Classic rock eh? I agree about Dark Side of the Moon, you must like Led Zeppelin then? I want to get Houses of the Holy but I am unsure as from listening online I don't think it is as good as Physical Graffiti. What are your thoughts?

Unpopular opinion but Dark Side of the Moon is one of my least favourite listening experiences of all time 😂😂 I know it’s anathema but I really quite liked Murmurs so it’s not as if I’m totally opposed to Pink Floyd. Classic rock I prefer would be CCR, The Stooges, The Stones/Beatles (probably prefer Beatles out of the two). Not really a prog fan to be honest, a bit of Rush here or there is alright and I like Yes but I prefer my rock a bit further towards the Krautrock side of things.

@Draco_V_Ecliptic Pretty much anything really, mostly rock. I don't think I've got a Led Zeppelin album yet, I don't listen to them too much. But they're good.

My most recent Vinyl purchase was of one of my favourite albums of 2019 in Tyler The Creator's IGOR, a soulful, emotion record layered with heavy synths, pitched vocals and mesmerising chords.

I paid a decent amount as this was the limited edition vinyl with the mint green colour and the limited variation of the sleeve.

Another Vinyl I purchased was the limited edition of one of my favourite albums of the last decade and one of the greatest albums of all time in my mind in Frank Ocean's Blonde.

This is a pretty rare find and got it for a reasonable price (around £150) considering some sellers want crazy money for it.

@DonJorginho Woah, they’re some pretty cool limited editions. I have the peasant versions of both but those sleeves are a work of art. I’ve got the limited version of Itekoma Hits by Otoboke Beaver coming but I mostly buy them for the music than the art. Although Magnolia Electric Co’s anniversary edition is very nice and Mondo’s game OSTs are very snazzy.

@nessisonett I went for the IGOR one just for the sleeve and the Blonde one has these lovely pictures on red vinyls that really contrast well with the black.

And I have seen the Magnolia Electric Co's one and that is a work of art!

@Draco_V_Ecliptic I would say I and IV (or the untitled album as it’s sometimes known) are probably the classic Led Zep albums. I’d like to get hold of them and a copy of Back in Black (AC/DC) at some point.

Like I say, I don’t mind picking up remasters now and have London Calling (the Clash) and Born to Run (Springsteen) on vinyl as remasters rather than selling silly money on the originals.

And I think I got the frames from Urban Outfitters. I hate the shop but they were really good value in there. I sometimes used to put a “collage” of sorts of 7” records in one of them too. Some of the fatter double albums don’t fit in though.
