@BearsEatBeets Trump is a blowhard,. do you how much ***** he spews that isnt true. Hell if it was up to him he would say he was the one that made cats and dogs enemies, quite surprise he hasnt said that. Thats just normal anit-American propaganda because FIFA did whats right, it must be because Trump got involved and as I said hes going to say that to.stroke.his ego.and make.himself look good for his followers.

The point being it was a red card that was issued when it shouldn't be maybe a yellow.sure but not red. He wasnt doing it maliciously it was a simple.accident it happens in a game like this feet get tangled,.people get stepped on its the nature of the game. Whats next someone getting a red card cause they got hit by the ball?

@Tasuki The red card wasn’t revoked, which has happened before in the case of the red not being deserved. Instead the ban has been suspended, which means they stand by the red card being the right decision, it’s just not resulting in a ban because Trump and Infantino stepped in. Political interference is against the FIFA rules and Nepal are currently embroiled in a mess because of their government interfering in their FA.

Regardless, what happens on the field stays on the field, he was shown a red card and that’s the punishment. The referee that was in charge for our game against Morocco didn’t give a couple of penalties that very easily could have been given but there’s not exactly anything we can complain about, the game was played on the pitch and that’s the end of it. Honestly, the referees have let a lot go all tournament and landing studs first that high up the ankle is asking for trouble. England just got a red for a high stud tackle that didn’t injure the guy as badly as Balogun did. It’s unlucky he landed on him but that’s the rules of football.

@nessisonett I dont envy these refs one bit, they have to decide on the fly what was a malicious hit and what isnt. Part of the problem is these players overreacting to every little bump and nudge. Serioulsy, no other sport does anyone sell as much as soccer, well maybe pro wrestling but thats for entertainment purpose. Imagine if everytime a baseball player catches a ball they act like they arm is shattered or a boxer going down.after every punch they get. Its so ridiculous that FIFA let's players get away with that.

@Tasuki It’s why I’m not that big on VAR, at least refs are respected if their say is final. Having everyone complain to look at the video undermines their hold on the game.

If I was that American team I’d say I was making some sort of statement against FIFA and that’s why I was playing like a nutter.

Yeah dont know what the hell was going on but yeah. That bonehead move by the goalie just did it for me. I am not a pro soccer player nor am I an expert but even I know that a goalie shouldn't be leaving the box. Its good thing that goalie doesnt play for a South American team if he did I am pretty sure he'd be dead by morning.

@Tasuki Normally with a 4-1 result you’d say that was harsh (like with Canada’s 3-0 defeat) but I can’t say it isn’t the right result. Just sloppy defence, which I’m selfishly glad Trusty is not part of since he plays for my club. Not the way you want to go out. Belgium might be an aging squad that never lived up to their reputation but that is what they’re capable of.

@nessisonett I cannot disagree with you. They have no one.to blame but themselves. I dont know if the whole drama with the red card situation caused them to play like that maybe they were worried about what people would say or think if they won and subconsciously that cause them to play that bad. That blunder from the goalkeeper is inexcusable though, any goalkeeper with their salt knows not to leave the box like that. If I was in charge of the US team that goalie would be walking home with a pink slip.

Sadly for me the World Cup is about the only way I can enjoy soccer since its not as big here as in other countries. Yeah its getting bigger here but following it is harder then you think unless its the World Cup. But I digress.

Anyway time now for me to enjoy the rest of the World Cup, my prediction for the final its going to be Argentina vs France.

@Tasuki At least you made it out the group stage. Although I still maintain it’s incredibly bad luck that we drew both Brazil and Morocco and that 3 points wasn’t enough.

@JohnnyShoulder Apologies buddy, it was a long night You are right I meant FIFA not UEFA, justice in the end though a truly terrible performance by the U.S. and for defeat to be handed out by Belgium is some what poetic!

Spain vs Portugal win the award for being the most boring game so far...

Not happy about Egypt's second goal being disallowed, like how far back does VAR need go back?
Literally as I was writing this they scored anyway lol

Oh my word Argentina are being carved apart. As it stands, this is a ludicrous route to the final for England. No disrespect to Norway, Egypt, Switzerland and Colombia but this is fairly wild stuff. Then again, if Brazil and Argentina can fall then so can England!

Never speak too soon 😂
That header was exquisite oh wow. I’d be incensed if I was Egyptian though, to have a goal disallowed from a foul about a whole minute earlier and then not even a check on the foul inside the box there. I do think the goal disallowed was probably the right call but not what I want to see in the game.

First day without football since what feels like last August. We’ll have a European play off to play in not too long too!

@nessisonett
There were games on yesterday.... Just the unpronounceable teams from unspecified nations in the pre pre pre qualifiers for Euro comps - always amuses me when the next season begins before the last one has finished

But yeah back to the real stuff now, looking forward to tonight's match. Well looking forward to all of the upcoming quarter finals tbh

@sorteddan I wouldn't write off Morocco but France are probably the most complete team in the tournament. Spain vs Belgium will be interesting but I think Spain will win 1-0 or 2-1. Norway vs England is more evenly matched than I would expect, feeling spicy so I'll go Norway. I'm still upset about the fact Egypt didn't go through so I hope Switzerland sends Messi home.

@sorteddan I watched our first pre-season game on Tuesday too, I know our season starts earlier than the Prem but it’s still mad.

@nessisonett It's weird seeing Coventry off on their pre-season training in Spain while our squad is currently smaller than before promotion (GK Rushworth gone back to Brighton, one or two released, and no signings yet!).
