@BearsEatBeets Am ready to see some gameplay. Even without my wishlist tweaks, I'm still really looking forward to replaying the trilogy later this year. I had a sudden "I could go for some Mass Effect right about now" attack the other day, and had to remind myself to be patient!

@RogerRoger I'm on 2 weeks holiday right now and looking to try and chip a good chunk off my backlog so I feel better about rebuying 3 games I've already played multiple times. It's been a while though and yeah I've been getting an urge for some Mass Effect. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

The lens flares are a bit much but I quite like a lens flare or 50, as seen from my photos.

It's all very exciting, isn't it?

Loving the tweaks and improvements they've announced thusfar (unified custom characters across the entire trilogy being a highlight for me). I'm a little disappointed that they haven't said anything about reactivating the blocked romance options, but they might be staggering the news.

Even without that, though, I can't wait to play through the entire trilogy again. I was gonna wait until I'd upgraded to a PS5, but I might cave and use whatever I've got to hand come release day.

That's pretty dope. I still need to finish ME3 on the PS3 first though. I'm so close to the end that I can't not finish that first. I'm hoping they make story improvements as well, the first one is too good/evil and the choices that carry from game to game can have weak consequences. This will be a great remake though. I hope it gets a proper PS5 port, as I think I could wait for that.

@RogerRoger
They stated the romance options will remain as they were in the original release, they're not adding any content there, they said it would take too much work as they'd have to create stuff from scratch.

It's a shame but not surprising, seems standard when it comes to remasters.

Romance in Mass Effect

  • In ME1, Femshep has some sexy time in a bubble with the Citadel Presidium's resident consort and then romances the sweet archeologist Liara.
  • In ME2, Femshep notices how much Liara has changed, has a late night with the Normandy's yeoman (so she feeds her fish) and also tries to cop off with the milf justicar.
  • In ME3, Femshep takes immense pleasure in telling Liara it's over and has some sexy shower time with specialist Traynor because she's sweet, has an English accent and is willing to spend a fortune on her dental hygiene.

I played as BroShep throughout on my first run (and, well... never even played ME1, just watched the story summary and made the key decisions at the beginning of the PS3 version) so I think I’ll do FemShep this time around. But I am tempted to try to make my Shepard look like a clone of myself though. I tried that the first time and he ended up looking a little weird, but I ran with it. Supposedly the character creation is more intricate now, so I could retry that tactic.
....except maybe it’s me that looks weird all along. In which case I’ll try to make Shepard look like Taylor Swift.

I would definitely recommend giving FemShep a go. The general consensus seems to be that Jennifer Hale offers the best voice acting (can confirm she is brilliant) and of course it will help to distinguish the playthrough from your first experience with the game.

@LieutenantFatman Taylor Swift it is then! 😜
Actually, I might go for something more along the lines of Angela Lansbury. In honor of @Gremio108 . She seems to carry an air of command pretty well.

I made a custom MaleShep when I first played the series with ME2 on the PS3 but every playthrough after of each game I just used the default male Shepard as my custom looked kinda goofy. I'm also going to try a full FemShep playthrough of the series and make different choices this time (probably).

BroShep is a total meme because his VA is legitimately terrible but kinda lovable. His line delivery is hilarious. FemShep is actually good, mostly because Jennifer Hale is a far superior VA. I’ll probably play through the remastered trilogy with each though.

I feel uneasy about how vague the improvements to the original Mass Effect are described. All I wanted them to say was, "The shooting is just like in Mass Effect 3 now." I'm hoping I'm just worried over nothing because the first Mass Effect was a mess - gameplay wise - even when it was new. I would have liked them to unify the pew-pew shooting like they did with the Uncharted remasters.

Anyway, even if they've been lazy with the first one I'll still play them all through again. I just won't be happy about it.

If the combat was updated to be more like ME Andromeda's then I'd be well chuffed. The writing and characters were awful but that combat was slick man.
