@Titntin Agreed, though nearly lost it at the line.
@BearsEatBeets One aspect they didn't talk about much was the new Power Unit for max and how it gives you a bit of extra oomph, similar to Antonelli coming from the back before. great drive regardless. Issac also on point.
@themightyant Yes, the Red Bull power unit is quite something. You have to be impressed considering its so early in its lifetime development.
Agree, its great to see Issac up there. At last a team mate who can nearly keep up with Max...
@themightyant I didn't realise Max had put in a new engine because you're right that often gives a reasonable little boost of extra performance. Hadjar as well or just Max? As you both mentioned that was a great display from Isaac, especially after quite a break since his last race weekend.
I'm glad Sainz made it into the points, hopefully the new leaner Williams can fight for points more often.
Be tough to bet against Verstappen taking pole. He's looking really rapid.
Are the Mercs just coming up to speed? I expected more from them.
Hope its a great Q3!
@Titntin Indeed! And now it looks like Hadjar might be there to help him too. Realise it’s early to say but Perhaps Max might get a win this year after all. (Edit: forgot Hadjar had a 5 place penalty)
Unless someone is sandbagging and has an extra mode it like like Ferrari is the closest competition but with Hamilton and Leclerc so close (as usual) I don’t think they can find half a second.
Will be interesting to see if anyone beats Max’s 1:35.250 in the second runs.
@Titntin and no one did beat that time… except Max. Brilliant lap. And yes very good lap by Lewis, great to hear him so happy about P2. Isaac P3 but 3 place grid penalty means he likely can’t assist max diectly. Looking forward to the race. As you said Kimi (and Leclerc who usually starts well) on P3 and P4. Race pace may be as different story too.
A Max and Lewis front row should be fun. The Red Bull certainly looks like it has found enough performance to give Max his first win, I hope the Ferrari has a good enough race pace to keep it interesting.
Looks like we finally have a decent track and some high deg to hopefully have a good race.
I just made my tea and breakfast with seconds to spare for qualifying. I might skip a fair chunk of the build up tomorrow to have a longer sleep, especially as we're into late night Sundays for NFL for me.
@Titntin I think it's the only thing that could prevent Max getting his first win this season, if the Red Bull is somehow harder on it's tyres than one or two of the other top teams (and ignoring any crazy crashes/dnfs).
I wonder if that is still a strength of the McLarens.
