I enjoyed that cooldown room chat, they actually stayed with them a bit longer I felt, which was good.
I'm a little torn on the yo-yoing. It can feel a little cheap for a car to blast past with more power but as long as it is in the hands of the driver to be able to think strategically whilst racing I think I'm okay with it. It's certainly more entertaining to watch than cars in a DRS train for half a race.
I'm really looking forward to next weekends race. I'm sure the drivers have done a ton of simulator work but driving a new track for the first time has got to have some unknowns and require some learning to maximum. The layout has potential as well.
@JDINCINERATOR I'd be surprised if they had to resort to that over their own sim 😄. No doubt they have driven the layout for hundreds of laps by now but it can never beat getting out on the tarmac. I think it might help throw in some surprises next week.
I've not read any major news about the track so assume they have got everything done in time.
@BearsEatBeets I really like the design, especially the mix of city to track design, but only time will tell if it ends up being good in reality. Could see a lot of safety cars potentially.
I've played a few laps in F1 2025, also liked this in game lap.
@themightyant yes the chance of safety cars is going to be high, especially seeing how tight turns 1& 2 are. I'll be shocked if we get to lap 2 without some sort of incident.
Thanks for the vid but blimey the comments are negative (shocking), everyone completely writing the track off as rubbish before a lap of racing has been done.
When you played it in F1 2025 was there much side by side going on around La Monumental?
@BearsEatBeets Ha! I didn't notice. I tend not to look at YouTube comments often, it's usually the blind leading the blind into some form of extreme misery. Sadly gaming discourse is often joining it currently.

I only played it briefly solo at a mates house and only did a few practice laps to see the track, not as part of the race, so it was just me on the track. I don't have the 2026 season DLC which this track is part of as I've only played it briefly on Game Pass. TBH I don't love the F1 2025 game as it's a bit too arcadey - at least at the settings I play at - but also don't have the time or dedication to get really good and make it more sim like.
EDIT: Also on reflection we were well on our way to getting pretty pissed at the time. Perhaps I will buy the 2026 DLC and give it another run, if it's not too pricey!
EDIT 2: £20 - £25 I think i'll leave it as i don't own the game.
@themightyant Yes I do keep reminding myself nowadays that checking comments is usually a waste of time. On anything popular I not sure many are real people anymore.
Appreciate your thoughts on the game😄.
I think I'm going to make more of an effort to catch practice this event, see how they get on with F1 cars going around for the first time. I hear the F3 test races were quite eventful.
It’s fascinating watching the lap times tumble in FP1 from 1:40 to 1:39 to 1:37 and now 1:36 as drivers get used to the track and take more risks.
I wonder what qualifying time will be?
UPDATE: lol. Great minds think alike they just mentioned this too on comms and were saying teams maybe estimates a 1:27… as Hamilton just goes 1:35.5 while very narrowly avoiding a slow Stroll. Fascinating.
@themightyant It's not very often I watch Practice, at least more than having it on in the background. I've missed bits of this one but what I've seen has been entertaining to watch.
Hamilton seemed to be the main driver willing to push it early.
It looks like there might be heavy degradation as well which might give us multiple pitstops.
By the the time I put on Practice it was paused for Lewis' crash. I've not heard them mention if it was bad enough for them potentially not be able to get it fixed for Qualifying. Anyone know?
It looks to me like they really cut turn 19 a lot, I wonder if we are in for a lot of track limits.
I really feel like penalties for blocking during Qualifying is a certainty.
@BearsEatBeets It should be OK for Lewis - just a nose cone. I don't think he helped himself by driving on it - he may have caused unnecessary floor damage and get himself a grid drop for driving while the car is unsafe.
As I typed we get another crash, that will be a massive challenge to fix that in time.
@Titntin yeah I think he has a lot of promise. It seemed like he might have a light back end, I could have sworn it was his car that looked a bit twitchy at the back going around La Monumental a few laps before. Edit: Thanks for the info on Lewis. I think we might be typing simultaneously.
@Titntin agreed. Ferrari communication terrible again. They really needed to say the words “you have the front wing under your car and need to stop NOW to stop doing more damage to the car” or similar. I get that Lewis can be forceful but the comms was weak AF. Like being told off by a gnat, why do what they say.
