Will be interesting to see the replays on the possible penalties. I thought Lewis’ first was harsh, racing incident all day for me. The commentators, and George thought so too. Will see why Ant/Karun think on slow-mo.
Didn’t think Charles left enough room, really surprised that slid, but again need to see slowly.
Last Lewis one is a team error they seemingly forgot to tell the front wingman to change the rake till too late and then gave him the green light. Wondering if that MIGHT play in his favour, but seemed prettt open shut from the reg they read out.
@themightyant I forgot Hadjar started at the back. He got very lucky with the actual Safety Car early allowing him to run 1 lap on mediums then dump them and then the later VSC giving him a cheap refresh of tyres. Still a decent performance.
They always seem to cut away from the cooldown room just as they start saying something interesting.
Hopefully they don't take long to sort if Lewis is getting another penalty or not and we hear before the program finishes.
@Titntin I'll be back for Hungary next weekend 👍 As I believe it the first of Aston's big upgrades are coming for that one so I'm really interested to see how much it improves them.
@BearsEatBeets excellent point on Aston Martin’s upgrades. Should be interesting to see. They were over 5s off the lead in qualifying and over 3s of making it out of Q1… I really can’t see them gaining that much… but would love to be wrong!
Regarding the George Russel engine situation I don’t quite understand why they don’t just take the engine change and deal with the penalty later. Surely if he’s losing so much time every single race he would have made back and points he lost by now. But I suspect it’s not just the engine, it’s George.
Still disagree with Karun. Yes Lewis slightly lost control, but the stewards are usually more lenient on the first few corners when tyres aren’t hot, grip is low and so many cars are together giving dirty air making incidents like this far more likely. Yes I’ve seen them given but also seems harsh imo.
@BearsEatBeets Max and George looking nowhere? As you say, lovely to see at least some performance from Aston. If Alonso gets P10 in qualy that will be drive of the day! It would be great to see them properly challenge for mid pack places.
Good to see lando looking fast too and Kimi in the mix too. We are in for a great qualy
@Titntin Got a bit distracted after it finished. Great showing from Lando. I understand there might be some possibility of another penalty for Lewis for blocking Oscar but don't think I've caught anything definitive yet.
All a bit crazy with Max spinning and like you mention George having more problems. I would imagine he is quite looking forward to the summer break after tomorrow to let the team look into thinks and try and reset.
Fingers crossed we have a good one before the break. Catch you tomorrow.
Lewis has picked up a 3 place grid penalty for the blocking. Kimi has also picked up a 3 place penalty for not slowing sufficiently under the yellow flag when Max spun off.
I wonder if that will be a small comfort to George that he is at least starting in front of Kimi now.
@BearsEatBeets 3 penalties in 3 races for Lewis now. His team admitted, they didn't tell him Piastri was coming. What is the matter at Farrari? They are so unprofessional sometimes its a joke.... Hundreds of K on developing tiny improvements which they throw away by simply not informing their drivers what's happening. Ridiculous.
I imagine George will take small comfort in Kimi being behind. I bet he makes his car very wide today!
@cainhurst94 I doubt it. All the best drivers fancy a stint in the Farrari in their career. For Lewis it was 'do it now or never' and as his influence starts turning up more and more in the engineering you couldn't bet on him not achieving his overdue 8th championship some time in the next few seasons.
I bet when he is beset by doubts, that thought will often haunt him though..
@cainhurst94@Titntin I wouldn’t be surprised if last year when things were going really bad it may have crossed his mind from time to time but I doubt he has actually regretted it.
Like you mentioned he dreamed of driving a Ferrari at some point and the way they are improving must give him some hope.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he picks up another win or two this season.
It will be interesting to see how whatever tweaks they make to the regulations for next year affect each team.
