@themightyant Hopefully she can hold that break to take the second. I'm curious what her energy levels will be if it goes to a third, she's not played this much in a week for a while. The level is definitely up though 👍
Grand Prix is a bit more of a precession than I expected.
@BearsEatBeets agreed on Tennis. Emma’s picked up her game and Vekic is looking frustrated, I think a bit by the partisan crowd. Keep it up!
On F1 it is a procession. BUT we are seeing some crazy lap deltas within that and I think strategy is going to be key. Leclerc lost 8s to Max by pitting 4 laps later but now has closed the gap. Antonelli has gained 5s on Hamilton. Etc.
@themightyant You are right, looks like starting to see some splitting of strategy. Trying to keep an eye on the gaps but tricky while watching the tennis.
@BearsEatBeets I honestly think Lewis has a small chance here. They have to go 30ish laps on those hards. But it could also backfkre and put him in 4th. 3 stop worth the risk for a potential win.
I actually fancied Lewis’ chances more without the VSC. He had to pit too early, was lapping so much faster and wanted to pit 6-7 laps later and have 10-15 lap fresher tires. But track position is still strong.
Shame about the tennis. Vekic ultimately deserved the win. She looked stiff at the end, think she might have struggled in a third set. Emma couldn’t see the set out.
@BearsEatBeets Amazing week for Emma. Should have won the second set but couldn’t close it out. Small margins. Vekic looked like she might struggle if it went on.
Just realised an all British podium! Chuffed for Lewis 🏆
@themightyant Yeah if Emma could have dug out that second she was probably better placed for the third. Great performance from Vekic, especially as she lost in qualifying and got in as a lucky loser. Really upped her game.
What I was really surprised about was how much race pace that Ferrari had in clean air. Went from 2.9s ahead of Russell when he pitted to almost 20s at the flag.
It’s just one race but have Ferrari closed the gap?
Would be great if they have.
Antonelli DNF unlucky but good for the championship.
@themightyant I wonder if the temperature played a part. I feel like the Merc always performs better in the cooler temps. Lewis had fresher tyres but yeah I wasn't expecting him to pull that much of a lead.
The DNF for Kimi equals it out with George at least.
@1970sGamer If you had checked the thread before you might have noticed that while we have other people contributing it's mostly @themightyant and myself sharing our thoughts about F1. Yesterday we happened to realise we were both following the tennis as well as the race and so obviously shared our thought on that as well.
Wild that you felt it worth commenting on when you've never had an interest in the thread before.
