So basically like alot of people I'm unable too buy a ps5 in my area due to the well documented shortage supplies, however with it being half way through the year, I've realised that I've purposely not purchased any cross platform games like assassin's creed in the hope I'd have a 5 by now, am I being silly or should I hold out
@QualityGeezer The cross-gen games are actually good at helping you appreciate the upgrade, as it doesn’t feel like a big leap to start with. I’d play them just now and then when you get a PS5 you’ll be able to directly compare the difference.
@QualityGeezer That’s fair enough, you’d probably be better playing games that had later PS5 upgrades than the ones which launched with both versions then.
@nessisonett yeah I'm not overly concerned about graphical upgrades etc, just wanted to know if its still worth playing assassin's creed etc on ps4 without frame rate drops etc making it unplayable
no , im not putting off. either they make a (true) ps5 game , or im getting it for PS4 - especially since the PS5 is backwards compatible with the PS4 - so getting the game for ps4 is killing two birds with one stone .
These corporations have played a game on many peoples minds from last generation not having dedicated backwards compatibility and capitalized on it with ''PS5 versions'' and ''remastered editions'' , when in essence they're just souped-up PS4 games. Unless the game is only on PS5 - i.e. a true PS5 game , then ill just get it on PS4 and use the PS5's BC.
@QualityGeezer I do not buy ANY games that has better Performance / Graphics on PS5 (as example, DOOM Eternal, God of War 2018, The Last of Us P2, Ghost of Tsushima). And I do not even play those games that are already in my Library.
Patiently waiting for a PS5 to play games with better experience, compared to my PS4 Slim
@Bivshtex007 But how did you even know those games would even recieve better boosts on PS5? Some of those games were released way before the PS5 was announced. Sometimes is better to experience a game sooner rather than to wait for better versions.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder Because I do play old games that do not receive even PS4 Pro update. Such as Metro 2033 and Last Light, Enter the Gungeon, Fall Guys, Wolfenstein 1, 1.5, Amnesia Collection...
I also play any multiplayer game that has 60 FPS, such as BattleField 1, Fortnite, Battlefront 2, Titanfall 2
As a PS4 Pro owner, not really. The cross-gen games on it run good enough. The only cross-gen game on my PS4 Pro that ran like a total mess was, unfortunately, Cyberpunk 2077. If you game on a PS4 Pro and not the base model, I encourage you to just play cross gen games on the Pro because I don’t think the PS5 would be widely available for a long time, especially on a reasonable price.
@TowaHerschel7
Thanks @nomither6 . Yes that is what I meant. I was being flippant. My best mate who I occasionally game with has one he got early from a scalper and I was playing cross play with him the other day so I am aware that they exist.
On topic, I would possibly be thinking of picking up RE Village at some point but will probably wait until PS5 - hopefully I can get one before the year is out. But I generally wait till games have been out a while and price drops anyhow and I have way too many yet to play in my PS4 backlog.
By the way, my mate us mostly playing stuff that would've worked fine on his pro, so aside from faster loading times and shinier graphics he probably should've waited and not given into the hype.
Also hoping they announce a PS5 slim model becausr in my opinion that thing is UGLY

It’s significant to note that despite developers and publishers making cross-gen games in order to continue to tap into the large install bases from PS4 and XB1, many people are still delaying and waiting to play those games until they can get their hands on the current gen machines. So the impact on the revenues from some of these games is still going to end up hurt by the scarcity of the new consoles. I know there are plenty who are buying new games on the old console but there are definitely many who are waiting and wanting to experience them on the more powerful machine.
It would be interesting to see how total sales of the marquee titles like Horizon end up compared to what they would have been if everyone who wanted a PS5 had one. We see a lot of people saying they are waiting to buy games because they want to play them on new gen, despite the game having been made available on last gen.
