i'll use rocket league for example , yea, its a good drop to add to the (stale) variety pool of PvP MP games ; but compare the content to that of a SP game (not replay value) , your average SP has more content than rocket-league , more to do , more to see and explore , etc. Rocket League doesn't have the staying power of witholding your attention as long as a SP game does. the replay value is what helps Rocket League because of the MP but it gets boring quick because theres not more to the game than playing soccer with match-box cars. The maps all play the same , because it is all the same and nothing else to it. Rocket League is a game you play in the waiting room on your phone for 30 minutes , not an all-nighter multiple times a week MP game.
@nomither6 So many Rocket League players (me included) will disagree with you there. I've put hundreds of hours into that game on multiple platforms and the game has a lot of staying power and depth. It'll cost you way longer to master those difficult air moves than it is to finish most RPG's.
And the game being a little bit basic is part of its appeal. Soccer is also just four goalposts and a ball, and that hasn't tired anyone yet.
Also there's a plethora of different maps and also different modes, so what you're saying about the game is just wrong...
Interesting post and decent read. Can't really add much that's not already said above as I'm mostly single player, I tend to have to play multi player modes tacked on to games just to get final trophies! A good friend of mine seems to be I a similar funk however, with his apex, CoD, fortnite and NBA 21 routine. He was telling me a couple of days back that he is currently at a point where he plays games he's not enjoying (currently CoD) purely to get whatever prize is this month's battlepass bonus - so it seems his fear of missing out is keeping him in the grind which I find bizarre.
On a separate note, for racing games the competitiveness of GT sport far surpasses anything need for speed have done in my opinion.

@OrigamiCrane oh my god dont get me started on DBD. im currently stuck playing this game because it has no competition within its genre, friday the 13th couldve been but something happened with that game. perfect example about what i stated earlier with FPS having multiple games to play of its type but other genres only having 1 , maybe 2, games to play with usually one just dominating the other.
@Thrillho yes , ive played fallguys. the staying power of that game is not enough for me to play on the regular or have in a rotation of MP games though. its another game that could be fun in short-bursts until your AAA multiplayer game finishes installing. like i said , a single-player game could be played for hours and hours with its content , fallguys is only about an hour worth, then you'd play it again a few days later , whereas the single-player game you've totaled like hundred of hours into it already.
@colonelkilgore oh no, ill look into for honor . i was just saying that player population is an important factor for me since i mostly only play multiplayer games.
@nomither6 well I hope there are some full servers for you dude... it looks great. I’m even fairly tempted to play it myself. If you do end up playing it, let me know how it goes.
@Kidfried ill give rocket league another shot i guess, i always knew for a fact the game was popular so the playerbase is there . and you say theres a plethora of different maps , so i hope they actually feel different instead of just having a different background , lol. maybe the arena layout is different ?
@nomither6 The competitive maps all kind of have the same layout with a different background, but there's variety in maps in other modes. Anyway, they switch up stuff quite often; so what I'm saying right now might already be old news again. I only play it once every few months, to be honest!
@nomither6 If you're a fan of the franchise, then Star Wars: Battlefront II should not be overlooked. It's always busy (because it's Star Wars) and it's been greatly expanded since its rocky launch. There are tons of competitive modes, from 40-player chaos to smaller, more intimate affairs. It all looks and sounds gorgeous, as well. There's nothing quite like it.
"We want different things, Crosshair. That doesn't mean that we have to be enemies."
Rocket League - it can be played in long stints. Im massively ashamed of my overall time spent in game and just like the CODs, FIFA's and Fortnites you can play it for as long as you want to improve. For me it's the perfect multiplayer game, even better than Bomberman.
Wreckfest- go play it. It's absolutely boss.
GT Sport - go play it. It's absolutely boss.
Destiny - go play it. It's absolutely boss
Tekken 6 - "
Sackboy a big adventure - "
DREAMS - THE BEST GAME EVER.... Don't play it. It's not for you. It's mine. All mine!!!
