There will ALWAYS be people who will prefer the console experience over PC gaming
I love how modular and customizable PC as a platform is for games, and more often than not in the case of multiplats, if you have the right specs the best version of that game will be on PC, but it also comes at the cost of having a high learning curve of learning the ins and outs of resolution/performance tweaking, or how to fiddle with aliasing and going into settings and doing all that stuff just so it can run more comfortably in accordance with how powerful your own PC config is
A lot of people don't give a crap about aliasing, or how high their framerate can go or that kind of stuff. Some of them just want to turn on their console, sit on the couch and get right into that experience, and whenever the PC market has attempted to branch into home gaming endeavours like that with stuff like the Steam Machines and the Steam Controller, it usually doesn't end well since nobody can make consoles like console makers can
Also consoles have the advantage with their exclusives typically being an attractive proposition for investing in their systems, especially in the cases of Sony and Nintendo
The first Portal is still exclusive to PC if you’re into puzzle games.
The first Portal has never been PC exclusive, it's included on Orange Box for both PS3 and 360. There is also Portal: Still Alive which is a standalone version of the original game with 14 extra levels, that version is an XBLA exclusive on 360.
1. I can relax on my sofa and play on the television in my living room.
2. Most of my friends play on console, so it means you can play together, talk about the games you've all played and shared experiences, etc. And you can lend each other games.
3. PlayStation exclusives are often fantastic.
4. You have the option when you have friends over to all sit in the living room and play local multiplayer games / party games.
5. The console automatically patches games for you.
6. It's cheaper for me than gaming on a PC would be.
7. No concerns about updating parts that become obsolete or outdated or finding additional space for the PC. Although tbh if I did do PC gaming I'd probably get a gaming laptop rather than a PC.
8. Less cheating in some online multiplayer games.
@Shigurui The 360 version’s alright but the PS3 Orange Box literally doesn’t work. They didn’t even fix the issues in a patch. The games run abysmally to the point where you’d be better playing them on ancient hardware. I have to say, I did completely forget about that collection though.
Socks before or after trousers, but never socks before pants, that's the rule. Makes a man look scary, like a chicken.
@nessisonett - I only played the two 360 versions, both were fine. I remember at the time Gaben famously fell out with Sony saying the PS3 was a waste of time to code for so EA got the job of porting Orange Box to PS3.
There's many reasons why consoles are preferred, many which have already been said. My personal reason is that I can't be bothered to do the work for optimal performance. All I ask for graphically is a steady, playable framerate and the graphics themselves to not look terrible. Even then, I'm willing to forgive the latter point if I'm engaged enough (e.g. Yakuza and Final Fantasy Type-0 on PS4).

I've gamed on PC for most of my adult life with a few gaps here and there (started at 16 with the original Eidos Tomb Raider, I'm now in my mid-40s). I usually will move away from it every so often, but last year I started my own business, which required a lot of time at the computer managing reports, and performing work for my clients. At the end of the day, I get as far away from the computer as I possibly can.
PC Gaming for me as of late has been nothing short of a money pit. I was able to get one of the highly coveted 30 series GPUs from a clan member in my Destiny 2 clan, but I have maybe gamed less than 10 hours in the past two weeks since installing this card. The cost for the card was $650, a full $110 more than what I paid for my PS5 last month.
I really only play a few games on my PC (Destiny 2 along with various games like Street Fighter V), but I get massive FOMO about tech at times. I'm also lucky to have a PS5 as well, and that's my console of choice. It's also very hard to grow out of old habits as well.

I've never played any games on PC except old school emulators or those old CD rom ones from the early 90's like carmen sandiego. I prefer consoles. I just like having a machine that's like my own personal gaming hub. Something about that feels special. Does anybody get that?
I don't mind that consoles are weaker. It's all I've gamed on since the 80's.
There are advantages and will most likely keep them for a long time. The consoles are comfortable and serve their specific purpose. As a person who loves convenience, not ready to switch to PC
