Hey everyone,

You may or may not know of a band named Boom Boom Satellites - a Japanese electronic/rock duo that have been making music since the 1990s. I first heard their music, which features English lyrics, in a 2004 animated movie called Appleseed, and when I decided to check them out on YouTube, I found myself really enjoying their work. It wasn't long until I imported their latest album from Japan, and from then on, they became one of my favourite bands.

So, why am I posting all this now? Well, on Sunday the 9th October 2016, Michiyuki Kawashima, the band's singer, passed away at only 47 years old. For a lot of his life, he had been struggling with brain tumours, and his most recent relapse left him partially paralysed. The band had just released their latest album, and had cancelled multiple tour dates in Japan.

The band's announcement on their official Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/boomboomsatellites/posts/14639861902...

It wasn't until years after I had got into the band that I learned of Michiyuki's troubles, and I found myself deeply inspired. To stand face to face with death so many times and walk away from it is one thing, but to keep making music and continue to follow his dreams is another thing entirely. I can't possibly imagine how much willpower it would take to keep going like that.

I know this is a sad topic, but at the same time, I think it's great that Michiyuki can live on through his work that he's left behind. The Boom Boom Satellites' music has been an inspiration to me for many years, and I'd like to take the opportunity to share some of my favourite songs (I'll link them below). Hopefully you enjoy them as much as I do.

Sorry to hear this sad news.

I've only heard a few of their songs, mostly through animes. My favorite is still Shut Up and Explode.

Huntin' monsters erryday.
