@Th3solution I just finished this up recently myself and, yeah, I thought it was absolutely fantastic. I feel it has a bit of a slow start but by the time I made it to Torren IV, I was in love. Hope you can continue to enjoy it!

@Th3solution As somebody who's constantly wrestling with a desire to purchase Rift Apart, I just wanted to say that I appreciate the detailed analysis, and in particular your focus on what you find to be positive elements of the experience. I'm glad that its minor issues haven't prevented it from becoming slightly addictive, which is the biggest sign that its charms outweigh its flaws. Some of the stuff you've described in your bulletpoints sounds brilliant, and makes the game all the more tempting. Thank you!

@RogerRoger Certainly, and thanks for reading! There’s been a lot of praise for the game, but mostly in sweeping generalities and always with a qualifier like, “but it has such-and-such problem…” I figured highlighting a few of the random pleasantries about the game was in order while they are fresh in my mind. I’m sure I’ll have more comprehensive thoughts forthcoming.

Not having completed the game, take it for what it’s worth, but it’s a high recommendation and a sure-fire hit for you when it reaches a comfortable price point and you feel the mood strike.

@Th3solution Yeah, it's quite telling how a lot of genuinely good games get reviewed with a bunch of cautionary quantifiers nowadays. It's either because the bar has been consistently raised over the years, or it's something to do with the shifting landscape of gaming in general. Either way, I'm grateful whenever somebody pops up and cuts through the critical doubt, and just calls out fun as fun.

And thank you for the recommendation, by the way! I always figured it'd be a blast, and a great showcase for my young PS5, so I'm just waiting for the right moment now, I reckon.

Game is a shwo case for PS5... but yes, I was playing the other day and jumped into a corner I thought may be a secret area. Nope! Ratchet floated and waved his arms lol. It has happened a few times now and the glitch spots DO exist. I turn aim assist off in games. UNLESS the game is laggy control scheme... GTA 5 and RDR 2 for example.. without auto aim? You arent hittin anything! Those games could really benefit from 60 frames per second to smooth out the aiming. In R&C I dont use it, dont need it.. the weapons in the game do a lot of chaos and spread pretty well as it is without needing to pin point focus with auto aim. I notice a LOT of games now days have auto aim and also have it ON by default. That tells me either they think their fan base sucks at games.. or their game engine is wonky or their game runs at 30 frames and you NEED to have it on.

R&C has "aim sissit" settings of default and strong. I set to default. It also has "auto-aim" and i set it to off. I also turn lock-on to off. I dont want any aim assists because sometimes you need to focus on smaller enemies and ignore the boss a while to deal with'em and auto aim and assists screw all that up sometimes.

The Nintendo Switch is the only console that predicts its own future... after 5 years of nothing but weaboo games, you're ready to switch to another console!

@Iver Oh, yeah - like the Fargo accent. It’s an accent that has surprisingly little traction in media, but when it pops up, it’s does so like a sore thumb. The Morts are supposed to be these ‘so ugly that their cute’ race of NPCs with a loyal heart, friendly to Rivet and the accent just does nothing to endear me to them. 😅 I credit Insomniac with experimenting with a regional accent not often used in gaming or media, but it just grates like nails on the chalkboard whenever they speak 😅
