Topic: PS5 Buzzing

Idk my ps5 is 1/20th the noise of my ps4 I couldn't be happier

@Chevyguy it’s not the volume people are complaining about, it’s the pitch.

Coil whine is a sound like a fridge or something and can change depending on movement in game etc.

So while it’s quieter than a PS4 the sound can be far more off putting to many.

@Justin113 turn the volume up or get a headset problem solved

@Chevyguy Not really. Pitch tends to stand out regardless of volume and it’s very noticeable on things such as Hitman when the volume drops. It also happens in game menus.

Noise cancelling Headphones perhaps but this isn’t great if you have people over or whatever, or if you have an expensive sound system. These solutions are fine for the short term but not ideal for a consoles lifespan.

The system is just cheap and nasty. I’m surprised there wasn’t more complaints to be honest but I imagine a lot of people are playing in big rooms with other noise. Not everyone can hear frequencies also and it stands out the most on PS5 games so a lot are yet to hear it.

But it’s not a great sound in a small quiet room. Far quieter than PS4 but that made a much more manageable and consistent noise. It’s actually their effort to make the console so quiet that makes the coil whine stand out so much.

@Ridebird how was the return process with Sony? I’m getting a buzzing noise and think I’ll have it replaced closer to the end of the warranty period. Didn’t notice anything similar when I had my PS5 digital for a couple of weeks. Now I have the disc edition and after a week I’m hearing a buzzing noise.
