Okay so this is a little premature but I thought I'd create it as I might forget later. Seeing as once we all start progressing over to the PS5 we will be able to retroactively see our playtimes for our PS4 games, I thought it might be interesting to see which games we played the most on this great console.

Will it turn out as we expect? Or will there be some games we will be surprised got as much of our time? Will there be some shocking figures?

I'll post mine when I'm up and running on the 19th (barring any disasters) but would love to hear from any of our esteemed US (and Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea) colleagues from the 12th.

I'm going to take a guess and say my top 5 will be...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Special Edition
Persona 5
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (Could be any 3 of the 4 games)

@Bentleyma- That's a good idea, lets see if I can guess what mine will be. I'm going to say it will probably be The Witcher 3, GTA V, RDR 2, The Division and maybe Battlefront 2 although I might be forgetting something.

@Anti-Matter Are they the ones you think you have spent most time playing?

@BearsEatBeets Good idea, gotta feeling mine will be (in no particular order) The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, all the soulsborne games, Sekiro and one (or many) of the PES or Fifa games. I wonder how they will treat dlc? Are they treated as separate? Admittedly I've not the read the article on it.

@BearsEatBeets
Yup.
My Top 3 PS4 games are the most played games.
I have finished the storyline of DQB2.
I can spent ton of hours just to design one beautiful house on The Sims 4.
I spent a lot of hours to terraforming and levelling up on Portal Knights.
But i still play Nintendo games a lot than Sony games. 😅

Unless the stars align and the video game gods smile down upon me and forgive my sins of procrastination by miraculously dropping a PS5 on my doorstep on November 12th, I won’t be able to confirm these predictions until many months hence, but I’m guessing my top 5 time sinks on PS4 were:

  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Metal Gear Solid 5
  • Bloodborne
  • Horizon Zero Dawn
  • Death Stranding

Bonus: Game I probably spent the least amount of time playing —

  • Battleborn
What a piece of hot garbage that was.

I suspect that I actually dumped more time into select PS3 titles, however. There were fewer games in my PS3 library, so I spent more time on average with each title:

  • Skyrim
  • Red Dead Redemption
  • Batman Arkham City
  • Dragon’s Dogma
  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Yeah, as much as I'd love to list a few all-time classics here, I'm reminded of when we were able to generate those personalised PSN videos a while back and they included a "most time spent playing" top three. If I recall correctly, my Number One was Star Trek Online which... well, I don't even play it as a game, more of a time-waster relaxation aid and, as such, it outpaced the subsequent titles (which I believe were Batman: Arkham Knight and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain) by a considerable margin.

That top spot likely won't have changed by the time I get a PS5 next year. Given that I've since replayed a couple of games to abuse their Photo Modes (turning ten-hour campaigns into fifty-hour trawls) and have found a fellow time-waster in Star Wars: Battlefront II, I'm pretty confident of the following.

1) Star Trek Online
2) Star Wars: Battlefront II
3) Horizon: Zero Dawn
4) Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
5) Marvel's Spider-Man

Watch this space, I guess. It'll be interesting to see if anybody else is surprised by their results.

I believe my top two would be crash team racing and metal gear solid V but I couldnt say the the rest of my top 5. I really wish I could see the play times on the PS4 as I won't be on ps5 for a good while and I am genuinely interested!

See ya!

Reposting assuming that the version of this topic I created will get moderated.....should have searched first.

1) 885 hours - Destiny - the first one....I’m wasting my life
2) 621 hours - Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
3) 569 hours - Borderlands 3
4) 348 hours - Diablo 3 (and that doesn’t include time spent on PC!)
5) 324 hours - Dark Souls 2 SoTFS

Honourable mention -314 hours - Warframe - I only played this at ps4 launch when I couldn’t buy games

the funny part is, I don’t consider myself a big fan of shooters, but the stats say that I do love a good repetitive looter.....

@Mega-Gazz It can be interesting that games that we don't consider our favourites can be the ones we put a lot more time into. I enjoyed the Division but there are many games I prefer over it. Maybe it won't be in my top 5 overall but going by that thing Sony put out a while back I think it might be. Hopefully it's just a matter of hours until I can see for certain.

Having now been fortunate enough to check out this new feature, it pretty much followed my guesses with one exception jumping in. So my top 5 apparently are

1) 640 hours - GTA V Figured it would be top 5 but wasn't expecting this much time
2) 489 hours - Witcher 3 this could go up with the PS5 upgrade next year
3) 441 hours - RDR 2 I haven't touched for a while now but will probably go back at some point
4) 413 hours - Dragon Age Inquisition this was the surprise but did play it through twice for the Plat
5) 302 hours - The Division played loads with my bro who lives in another country

Battlefront 2 which I thought would be up there wasn't far out with 236hrs.

Not entirely convinced that some of the times are totally accurate. I'm pretty sure I got the Plat for AC Odyssey a little after 100 hrs (the main title screen on this tells you so) and while I did both the DLC afterwards it tells me I played 260 hrs which seems way too much. And somehow I apparently put 236 hrs into AC Unity???

Other big sinks for me were
Surviving Mars - 213
Fallout 4 - 177
Mass Effect Andromeda - 163
HZD - 160 (still part way through NG+ ultra hard run)
Xcom 2 - 132

I'm on the screen which shows you how many hours you played each game, but how are you guys finding out your top 5?

@JohnnyShoulder It would have been handy if you could sort it by playtime but I basically scrolled through the whole list and made a note of anything over 100 hours then worked it out from there. At one point I thought it was listing some games twice in error but figured out after a few that it was also showing demos/betas.

@BearsEatBeets Oof. Cheers. I've got over 200 games to go through. See you on PS6.

OK so it is not a top 5, so apologies for the mahoosive list. I went through my list of games, and here are my top played, along with what i thought would be in there. The games marked with a * are ones I played most of the dlc for. Which makes the top game even more surprising.

I note some games didn't even appear on the list such as no PES titles? Some games also appeared on there multiple times like FFVIIR. And a couple like DOOM and Resi Evil 7 only shows up as 1 hour played. The former got pretty damn far and the latter I completed and played most of the dlc.
