@Kidfried I think they said on the PlayStation blog that more updates will be coming in the summer. It will most likely be another state of play rather than an E3 style event. I imagine they will either confirm the release date for Horizon this year, or delay it till next year. And a God of War 2 trailer. Maybe an update on Ghostwire Tokyo as we not seen that recently.
There's probably not going to be a big show like last year (with a ton of announcements) but they should still have some cool stuff to show this summer. Looking forward to it.
Really hyped for the next State of Play. I don't expect too much new game announcements, but I just love these kind of bigger events, focusing on what's ahead and presenting me what to look forward to.
(Like the Nintendo E3 Direct and Sony's State of Play from last year.)
The Push Square staff likes to try and convince me that the end of PlayStation is getting nearer for any month Sony doesn't bury us under headlines, but the truth is that most gamers actually don't need a State of Play, presser or anything from Sony. We enjoy our games and go to work or school and don't have that much time to consume all gaming news. Push Square staff is I think pretty unaware of the fact they're operating in a bubble.
@Kidfried This isn’t a State of Play per se, it’s a specific PS5 Showcase so I’d assume it’s similar in scale to the original announcement presentation and so will cut out the indies and such. Hopefully a bit more substantial than the bulletin style SoP.
@nessisonett If it's anything like either the June or September shows from last year, I'm very excited. At the very least I'm pretty sure we can expect a proper God of War trailer - it's been a full year since the original teaser, long enough.
I kinda feel like there will also be some new announcement that will make people lose their sh*t
@Kidfried It's alright, they'll spend all week writing Horizon preorder articles rather then the showcase which is what the majority want to talk about.
@nessisonett I'm not too hung upon whatever companies name their thingies actually. It would only set my expectations if I were going into this thinking it's like last year's events.
@AdamNovice I do think PlayStation has enough bona-fide ‘stars’ now to make something like that work. Whether it be a Super Smash Bros clone, or something else. The former would probably go on to serve the Evo purchase pretty well too.
@colonelkilgore I kinda feel like the “smash clone” genre is kinda getting saturated with the Nickelodeon brawler coming soon and a number of indie games on Steam trying a similar thing. Then again, it would be probably the best formula for an all-star brawler.
Traditional fighting games are probably just a little too hardcore for most gamers.
As for my expectations - I’d just like to have my mind blown, thankyouverymuch
😂
@AdamNovice@Voltan how about if it was done in the style of the old Dreamcast classic Power Stone, I used to love that game… and unless I’ve missed something I don’t think any other game has ever tried to implement its style.
@colonelkilgore kinda looks like that new Demon Slayer (I think that’s what it’s called?) game. I’m not entirely sure if that one even has multiplayer though.
