Nnnnnngh. I just can't help myself being extremely hyped for today's livestream. If they show Wattam, The Last Of Us 2 and Batman, that could turn out to be a very worthwhile 20 minutes.

HBU?

Yeah, I'm with @KratosMD on this one; I like semi-regular updates like this. I wasn't excited for today in the slightest, not until the Batman rumours started up, but I'd have tuned in regardless because it's just nice to see what's going on in the world of PlayStation.

I really hope everybody likes what they see regarding The Last of Us, Part II. For me, I'm hoping to be surprised and obviously, yes, Batman news would be awesome.

I like streams that are in OK times for me. It is fun to log on to Pushsquare and watch with comments on.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

@RogerRoger there will always be the trolls/closeminded people that are against anything news related regarding TLOU 2 because of that trailer at e3 last year.which is a shame.

anyway i have some hopes regarding reveals for tonight and 1 of them is new info about ghost of tsushima.
it's been to long and i think that ghost is the PS exclusive that needs new info the most.

here are my predictions so far that are realistic. not in any specific order.

TLOU2 gameplay plus release date.
new batman game reveal trailer.
medievil trailer plus demo announement/release.
ghost of tsushima story trailer with just a 2020 release date at the end.

now for some unrealistic hopes.
the reveal of a new tomb raider game sequel to shadow of the tomb raider.
announcement of a new acquired studio (remedy, bluepoint)
some shadow drop tease about the ps5.

@jdv95 Alas, true. Here's hoping Naughty Dog can drown them out with some kick-butt gameplay!

And you're absolutely right, we haven't heard enough about Ghost of Tsushima lately. If tonight contains a new look at that, alongside some Batman, I'd call it a home run.

I love your unrealistic hope for a new Tomb Raider, too. I'm with you, but I doubt it!

Speaking of Tomb Raider, I'd love to see Ueda's new game. I wonder what's next after The Last Guardian.

Same predictions as me, and I expect we'll also see new updates for Avengers and FF7 Remake.

Also hoping for FF13 Trilogy Remaster announcement. Whatever doesn't get shown today should definitely be revealed at PSX 2019.

They need to compete with Nintendo in terms of nabbing more mid-tier & cult classic rerelease type of announcements for these things.

I'm talking about stuff like the Trials of Mana & Panzer Dragoon remakes, the mid tier franchises THQ Nordic is reviving, and things like the rerelease of that old Star Wars game people weren't expexting because Disney's new canon.

They may not be big blockbuster reveals, but individually they each excite a certain segment of the long time gamer base and add up with enough of them. These are also the kinds of titles that'll still be releasing, and being revealed for, the PS4 for the next couple of years as well, so there's no reason for them not to be able to get some of these kinds of announcements, even during this sort of transition period.

As it stands they have a dwindling number of big exclusives, with more unlikely on the horizon (which is understandable given next gen's on the way), the mega franchises like Call of Duty (which while cool, don't have a real exciting air about them due to their ubiquity), and indies (some might be promising, but it's tough to build up real excitement for them due to their untested nature).

Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

@RR529 I think there would just as much, if not more negativity towards them if those types of games were concentrated on.

I think the unfortunate reality is that State of Play is going to exist in the shadow of Nintendo Direct for a little while. At the moment it almost feels like Sony's going to disappoint no matter what it shows. I can see a scenario where it presents blockbuster after blockbuster, all the first party games people could want, and there would be people complaining about the lack of variation in the games, etc.

This is only the third State of Play, and it's arrived when Sony has little to say. They're going to generally get better, just like Directs, and next year Sony should have a lot more to talk about. Once PS5 is here, State of Plays will pick up speed, I'm sure.

This particular state of play leaves me worried about ghost of tsushima. Scared that it might skip the ps4,and go straight to ps5. The long silence makes it seem like that,I hope not.

@hulkie Very unlikely. It might be a BotW situation where it releases on both, but the next-gen hardware is what it's primarily marketed for, and it ends up running better on PS5 than PS4. There are millions of PS4s out there, so until Sony really starts to beef up its PS5 numbers, expect the majority of Sony developed games to either release on PS4 or get PS4 versions. Especially considering PS5 is supposedly fully backwards compatible with PS4 games, it's likely that most of the same games will run on both, just with different targeted specs, and probably some pared back visual settings in last gen versions.

I'm really unsure about the format. Sony could quite easily drop it and just post videos as and when. I don't like the pre hype and speculation it leads to disappointment. TLOU2 could be a deep dive, Humanity could be a spotlight video etc.

As a positive Humanity looks right up my street, Civ 6 is big news - never got around to it on PC so that's sweet. I would have felt the same way if it was shown via simple one shot individual trailers though.

Personally, I prefer Inside Xbox - an hour long show with presenters, with developer interviews etc Obviously, I am referring to format before anyone starts talking about games and which has the better games to show. I am often left wondering 'is that it?' or was that really worth bothering with Sony's rather short 'State of Play'.

As I said, I am not talking about content and who has the better games to talk about, which has more exclusives etc its about the Format itself. In all honesty, LoU2 was the most interesting news for me, getting a release date but I would still prefer Sony to make more of an effort, more of a Show like Inside Xbox.

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BAMozzy People Don't Want That.Thats One of The Reasons Sony Tried To Change Up How They Announce Games And Give Out Info Because People Kept Complaining About Them Talking To Much. That Said Sony Should Have Kept Pulse

@BAMozzy There is PlayStation Access for all that kinda stuff. State of Play is supposed be a shorter, snappier affair.
