Heh, yeah well, when you consider the way Sony has been treating it's customers recently, maybe the PS5 doesn't deserve to be all that successful. Interesting how that thought never occurred to you. Not that the PS5 as it stands has anything to offer anyhow. It's not even decently designed, pure form over function. It's really sad. The inevitable second model should be a lot better in that regard.

But y'know, I'm a realist. Love my PS4 and everything, but holy mother of GOD Horizon Zero Dawn is incredible on PC. You are really missing out if you never get to play what is ultimately such a better version of the game. A gaming PC is, and always will be, worth the initial investment. No, a lot of things out there on the market are not. A gaming PC is. Do your research, learn a thing or two, and it will not be half as expensive as you're thinking either. Probably more like a quarter of what you're thinking, I'd bet anything. Oh and please, quit pretending like Sony deserves one bit of loyalty at this point. They don't. Plainly and simply.

good. i see PC outlasting consoles in the near future , can anyone really envision a PS6-7-8-9 and/or an xbox - ''whatever dumb name they can think of next'' ? without them spending big bucks for the hardware and them costing no less than $1000 ?

it just seems more convenient in the future to get a PC , and i actually like console gaming over it. plus , PC has games that don't release on consoles . like those little niche games like phasmophobia .

I have a 2070 Super, 16 GB 3200 MHZ RAM, 2 TB M.2 Drive, and Ryzen 3700X CPU. Also a Thor V2 case.

Yeah, I just don't see non-Nintendo consoles really lasting past the current gen. Sure their will be a PS6 and XBSeries2, but I see both of those consoles failing monumentally.

At the end of the day PS and Xbox consoles are destined lose relevancy over the next ten to fifteen years. People will either migrate to PC, or choose to stream their games directly to their TV.

@colonelkilgore Microsoft genuinely see PC as basically the second pillar to Xbox much like Nintendo with their pre-Switch handhelds co-existing with their home consoles. Sony are definitely supporting PC with good content but it's not like they're as dependant on it by comparison. It's basically just to advertise PlayStation to people who don't have PlayStations

@TheFrenchiestFry That’s a pretty good way of putting it. Considering Windows is owned by Microsoft, my laptop is a Dell and I’m using Game Pass, that’s Microsoft through all those elements.

@SidNightwalker well it would be a good solid bet even though you suggest it sarcastically... and go deliver your pity elsewhere it’s ‘next E3’ everyday here bruh!

@RogerRoger if I’m on your wavelength (and I think I am) Sony hurt him Rog, hurt him bad it seems... and probably continues to hurt him 2 or 3 times a year.

@RogerRoger

Sony hurt me by forcing me to choose between two equally ***** options. I can either buy a PS5 and watch all of its games slowly get ported to PC, which makes the PS5 purchase a waste of money. (It's also a waste of money because the controller breaks after 300 hours.) Or I can wait for the games to come to PC, which takes 2-3 years and then be forced to pay full price for a 3 year old game.

If they released their games to PC same day and date, I'd be happy.

If they kept all their games exclusive to PS5 for the life of the console, and made controllers that don't break, I'd be happy with that too.

Also, I'm hurt, because I prefer console gaming, but both MS and Sony seem to want to capitulate to PC in some way which waters down their brand. Both of these new consoles are just gimped PCs. I grew up with the Genesis/SNES console war, and I loved it. Game consoles used to be unique devices that offered up unique experiences. This continued all the way up until the PS4/XB1/WiiU era. Now, with the exception of Nintendo that has come to an end.

Switch is unique with it's portability and its exclusives. It's the only console that does things the oldschool way of having a unique library, and unique hardware anymore. Sure, PS5 has dualsense and a fast SSD, but dualsense controllers break, and PC will get a faster SSD soon. As for Xbox, it has given up completely on even trying to offer anything unique. The best they can do is buy out 3rd party companies for the sole purpose of keeping them off PS consoles. That's not competing. That's engaging in monopolistic tactics.

Edit: Imagine that there's an amusement park out there that requires you to buy a $500 summer pass in order to go to it. You can't buy a day ticket. Now imagine you know that a third of the way through the summer the park will fling its doors open allowing everybody in free of charge until the park closes down for the winter.

Wouldn't you be annoyed that you couldn't just buy a day ticket during the first 1/3rd of the summer? And if you spent that $500 on a summer pass wouldn't you be annoyed that they just flung their doors open making your summer pass pointless?

Well, I want to be able to play PS5 exclusives now, without having a $500 console purchase be completely invalidated by them porting all their games to PC a few years later. Either release your games same day and date on PC, or keep your games exclusive to PS consoles.

@GameCollector84 if things are going the way they are right now, PC users are potentially going to be waiting years for ports of these games. By then there might already be a new entry in development just for PlayStation if it's in a franchise since that's exactly what happened with Horizon

You aren't really realizing that in terms of the two platforms, Sony is pretty openly prioritizing their own hardware first, releasing their games there and then porting them to PC after they've sold all they could on PlayStation

Horizon came out like 3 years later on PC and by then not only had it basically maximized its sales potential on PS4, but not that long after Forbidden West was announced just for PlayStation consoles. It's actually genius marketing

PC is just an option, but people can still prefer console gaming and just pick it up for their console and play it way earlier with more upfront support from the developers. In this scenario the PS5 is actually the more advantageous platform still, unlike Microsoft wanting parity between console and PC

Basically people are dramatizing this as way more detrimental to PS5's growth as a platform than it actually is. It's going to be fine.

I just wish they would either prioritize their own hardware a little more, or go all out for day and date PC releases. If they kept all PS5 games exclusive to PS5 until PS6 launched I'd be fine with that. If they did same day and date releases onto both PC and PS5 I'd be fine with that too.

It's this half-step approach that I hate. It really feels like buying a PS5 is the equal to buying a season pass to an amusement park, only to have the gates flung open to everybody 1/3rd of the way through the summer.

There has to be more incentive to get a PS5 than "You'll have these games two to three years, before they get their best versions on PC".

Kidfried

I mean, if you don't care about PlayStation games, don't buy a PlayStation 5. If you are fine with playing their games three years, six years after release or maybe never, then don't buy a PlayStation 5, but stay on PC.

The rest of us will be happily playing on our console.

I think that's all what needs to be said on the subject. Now let's leave the console wars crap and talk about games.

@GameCollector84 I wasn’t on about you tbh, you seem fairly reasonable, you just have your own view... which is perfectly okay. Someone else though... well they were just ‘delightful’ 😜.

@TheFrenchiestFry Yeah, it’s pretty weird. Looking forward to playing Uncharted 4 as Macho Man Randy Savage though.

@nessisonett @TheFrenchiestFry Surely Thomas the Tank Engine gets a look in too?
