How much would you pay now the release date has been cast?

It's gonna be a beast!

I'd expect it'll cost around £500.

I'm not entirely sure whether I'm going to buy it or not regardless.

somewhere between £450 and £500 i can't imagine Sony charging any more than that, i don't think they want another PS3 situation on their hands

well unless they do have a base and Pro model at launch because if they do i can see a Pro version going for £550+

I reckon it'll be £449.99 or £499.99 because anything more will get them laughed out of the market.

And I'd be prepared to pay, but only if the launch line-up makes it worthwhile... and even if it does, I usually don't mind waiting up to a year before adopting new technology. I'm sure Sony have done a splendid job with the console, but there are always bugs and stability issues that a subsequent model number will overcome.

500 would be a fair price.

but i would happily pay 600 if HZD 2 is a launch game.

Planning on having $1000 set aside for launch as a baseline. May spend more depending on how much ps4 stuff I can sell/trade in.

I think it will be about £500 at launch and seen as Halo is an xbox's launch title I think Sony are going to have to have a good launch offering to steal a March on Microsoft

@redd214 @jdv95 @Arugula I was going to wait, then thought sod it. I'm putting £600 aside. If that buys me the console plus 2 games that's a win.

Probably won't need more games with backwards compatability for a good few weeks. Get the usual big Sony launch game and a left field unknown quantity to start with.

If it's £600 new (unlikely I know) then I will wait for the first bundles to appear like I did with my ps4.

@FullbringIchigo I personally think making 2 models to start is a really bad idea. You are buying a new console you would hate to have a compromised version day 1.

@JoeBlogs Phones are a tad different. Everyone has a phone which is used perpetually and it's pretty much assumed they break every few years. This is obviously both a marketing ploy, hardware mechanism (slowing phones down), battery issue and occasionally a fact of life when you drop one. The sales tactic is to get you to pay per month then roll you in to a 2 year cycle when you can 'upgrade' at between £40-£70 per month - using line rental, free texts, Internet etc for the latest phones. It's all a bit daft but you can understand how most people get embroiled in a pretty expensive contract.

If the same applied to a PS4 with good broadband, line rental etc they would probably do the same thing. But it's unworkable unless Virgin or BT got into bed with Sony.

I'm thinking:

$500 console
$200 games
$50 for another year of plus (hopefully doesn't increase)
$250 for extra controllers/charger/new headsets

I highly doubt the come with 2 models at launch though.

@JohnnyShoulder it changes everything. Holiday 2020, new rumble, new UI, new part installs, new menus integrated into the UI, new microphone, new VR. It's gonna be a beast.

I'd go up to £500 for this, in fact I think after Cyberpunk in April I may not buy any games and just save my money until it comes out and have some spare for a few games for it at launch

@themcnoisy Yeah like I said all that will make no difference to how much i would expect to pay for a PS5. I already knew it was gonna be a beast from the announcement earlier in the year. And a new microphone? 😂 C'mon now, i think you've allowed yourself to be caught up in the hype a bit too much.

@JohnnyShoulder actually I can live without the microphone. But everything I have heard so far like the wireless VR, no loading, 4k standard, 4k Blu Ray player, power of the cpu etc. Its gonna be great. We are all big gamers here so this is the first time since the Gamecube I'm getting a console day 1. Let's go!!!

£300 or I'm waiting for a price drop or a game I really want. I don't think I got a PS4 until MGSV came out and I got the metal gear themed PS4 for around £300
