I've just watched Patrick Rothfuss play an hour or so of this on Twitch. It looks fantastic. It is coming to ps4 sometime in 2020. A great storytelling isometric rpg from the looks of it. Has anyone tried this out on PC?

Like most of those games (The Messenger, Obra Dinn) I'm super interested, but I rather wait until a PS4 release, so it's all on one platform.

It supposed have reams of text to read through which puts me off massively.

I like art style but I don't like text heavy games.

Huntin' monsters erryday.

The setting just sounds weird for me a detective RPG??? From the sounds of it it will be text heavy as well, no thanks.

@Tasuki I am intrigued by the setting, I quite like games which try something different in that sense. But that needs to be backed up with gameplay thst clicks with me. I've a played a couple of isometric rpg's this gen and have not enjoyed them when there are mountains of text to read.

I played a good long demo of this at EGX 2018 and really liked it. Be warned, it is really really weird and the RPG upgrade elements aren't to do with abilities but elements of your personality. However, I don't have a PC that can handle it so waiting for console versions. Or for a Mac OS compatible version.

Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot

MEGA BUMP!!

I was going to start a new thread in the PS5 subform but this'll do just fine now the game is finally here.

Anyone else playing other than me and @nessisonett ? And a tag for @render who was asking about the game.

I'm still on day one and getting used to the game. I started with the thinker skill set up and have so far seem to be turning into a communist SorryCop. The game really does make you try and not play it as a "normal" game as exhausting every conversation tree with every character will see you run out of time seeing as how time passes as you carry on conversations. I am already planning another run as a supernatural leaning SuperstarCop.

The main things I've done so far are find the body, found my ledger, and spoken to plenty of people, including Sylvie.

I've only really got to play in short bursts and it feels like a game that needs a good session with it. I just wish the text was a bit bigger!

@Thrillho Ahh so time is a mechanic in this game? I've never played it and it's only gotten on my radar pretty recently. I've seen some gameplay and it seems interesting. Thinking I'm gonna wait for a Switch release as it seems like a perfect game to lay down and play.

@Thrillho I’m on Day 4 now, really enjoying another playthrough. And now the two main bugs that were affecting me are sorted! I’m running a build with an emphasis on everything except Physique and I’m staying completely clean, no alcohol or drugs. I was a Communist but Kras Mazov’s teachings just bummed him out to the point of it not being worth it. My thought cabinet has Inexplicable Feminist Agenda, Lonesome Long Way Home, Aces High, Volumetric S**t Compressor, Jamais Vu, The Jamrock Shuffle and Apricot Chewing Gum Scented One. I’m currently researching Waste Land of Reality, which is essentially going cold turkey. I’m gonna sort him out! I’ve found so many small details I missed the first few times though, even having a phone call with a certain somebody that’s so heartbreaking that I wish it was mandatory.

I'm playing it, still on day one but heading towards evening. I hadn't actually considered that there might be some timed events i could miss by talking to everyone i met. Turns out I'm also a SorryCop, lol. Enjoying it so far but going fairly slowly so far.

I have found a new bug. Saving now doesn’t change the time stamp or area in which it says you’ve saved. This is all just so silly.

@TraCuz- Yeah, time passes during conversations but not when wandering around. So you can get into long meandering conversations that don’t “achieve” anything but time will have passed. Sometimes you need it to as certain things only happen at certain times. For instance, the kitchen in the inn you start at can only accessed after 1300.

@nessisonett Whoops. Do you save scum or just have plenty of rolling backups?

@LieutenantFatman I don’t know if you can mess up tasks but I don’t know how much people move around based on time/day.

@Thrillho Nah, I was using Remote Play to check if the car bug was fixed so made a save in case of signal loss. I thought it hadn’t saved properly but it has, just with the old timestamp and location data because I overwrite saves instead of creating new ones, a habit from the catastrophe that was Skyrim PS3.

Seen a lot of complaints online about text size. How are people finding it? (I know everyone has different size TVs and sit different distances away, but in general compared to other games?)

I’m really enjoying it. It’s one of those games I’m thinking about at work. It can be pretty glitchy though. Some characters don’t have voice acting and occasionally the game won’t let me select dialogue options for several seconds.

@MatthewJP You can change the text size via the options menu.

@MatthewJP I have no complaints but I sit about a meter and a bit away from my TV and it’s a 40 incher.

I sang karaoke. Absolutely hilarious given the song is a riff on ‘The Smallest Church in Sussex’ from British Sea Power’s debut album.

@MatthewJP I have the text on the largest setting and find it a bit of a strain as you spend 95% of your time reading the text. It’s readable but a bit tiring seeing as you’re constantly doing it.

@nessisonett Ha, another pretty niche reference there!

@Thrillho I was having a similar problem with some games and small text... until I upgraded to a 4K TV. Might be worth thinking about, especially if you have a ps5 to get the most out of your new console.
