It seems like we don't have a Death Stranding thread yet! Could prove useful for the inevitable Game Awards trailer later this year!

Anyway, during the Argentina Game Show, Troy Baker was asked some questions about the game. And although he couldn't reveal too much, it's still interesting to read: http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=32757 Like how ''the man in the golden mask'' has a real name, but he's not allowed to reveal it yet.

It's also interesting how he mentioned that he's finished with the motion capture and the shooting, and he believed Norman Reedus was also done. Kojima has repeatedly stated that the game would be out before the 2020 Olympics and is still on track to release before the upcoming Akira movie in 2019. That's pretty soon!

@Octane Looking forward to this game so freaking much, so thanks for sharing. Playing Ground Zeroes again this week reminded me of how good of a game designer Kojima is.

Regardless I will not be watching the Game Awards trailer for this year. The last trailer showed me a bit of gameplay and that was about all I needed. I know I will buy this game regardless, so I will try to go on media blackout as much as possible!

Another Kojidrone here. I can't wait to see more of Death Stranding.

@antdickens I would genuinely pay any money to any journalist who, when they inevitably get to play some press-only backstage demo, writes up a preview piece saying "...and it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork, does a raw blink on Hara-Kiri Rock."

They should then claim that you need scissors to play, and rate it 61 out of 10.

I'm looking forward to it, it'll be good to see what it's all about. I always think I'm going to hold off buying a Kojima game, but then I get caught up in the pre-release hype. Can't wait for it to happen again!

Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.

@Kidfried I like the trailers. I personally think they reveal quite a lot, contrary to popular belief, but I also feel like there's still a lot of unknown about the story. And that's good. I feel like I can watch another handful of trailers and still play the game without being spoiled by them.

@antdickens Of course, that's mandatory!

I think I got the idea from some sort of early game info that there is a very unique online component to the game. The “big” and “weird” aspects of the game that Baker is referring to may involve the innovative online or social aspects of the game.
I believe Kojima is trying to do something that had never been done. Just what is it?

@Th3solution Good point. He hasn't talked about it a lot. I think it will be similar to Dark Souls; some online component/social system that can enhance the gameplay, but isn't required.

Interesting interview from Gematsu with Norman Reedus. Not sure if he was allowed to say any of it, but here it is: https://gematsu.com/2018/12/norman-reedus-discusses-death-str...

Fogler: “When is it available, is it still in development?”

Reedus: “I think it’s gonna be early this coming year, I have three more [mocap] sessions here in New York starting next week.”

It adds up to what Troy Baker said last month; https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2018/11/07/troy-baker-de... I think 2019 is pretty likely at this point.

Didn't get the chance to properly watch the trailer until now, but it looks absolutely awesome. I kept thinking ''Horizon Zero Dawn'', but then I remembered it's the same engine. It gives me weird HZD and MSG vibes, but in its own unique and weird way. There's so much going on in that trailer, it's hard to process it all at once.

It's pretty mental that they've made this in just three-and-a-half years.

Maybe me just being a grump, but thought it was a bit ott with the number of articles on Push Square. I understand it is a big game in the world of PlayStation, but did we really need over a dozen separate articles in about 24 hours? A few of them could have been merged together. A lot of the stories on other games I almost missed.

@JohnnyShoulder yeah I've noticed that trend as well with things the staff is personally interested in. Was crazy how many articles they wrote when the little sliver of ps5 info came out when in all honesty could've just been one. I get that the need those clicks but can get excessive at times.

@redd214 Glad I'm not the only one!

Saw the trailer, still not convinced with what I've seen. I mean I'm not totally writing it off, but it is defo not a day 1 for me and something to see what reviews are like.

@JohnnyShoulder you ever seen one of those fan made trailers that have been recut to change the tone of the film completely? Home Alone recut as a 18+ horror movie, for example. That’s the impression I get from the Death Stranding trailer. The MGS5 trailers, one in particular, were absolutely incredible and suggested a fantastic narrative. The game itself didn’t live up to any of those trailers. We know Kojima has put this trailer together himself, and while it’s a great watch I don’t think the impressions it leaves will necessarily translate into a similar experience once you’re actually playing the game.

Basically, I like the trailer, I’m getting the game, I’m sure it’ll be a good time but I don’t trust the guy despite him creating a personal favourite of mine in MGS1 and probably one of the most interesting (albeit divisive) games ever made with MGS2.

So I learned something new today. Remember the Kojima Productions logo trailer from a couple of years ago? Turns out, that's actually Die-Hardman from Death Stranding. So maybe we have been looking at another (short) Death Stranding trailer without actually knowing it.

''You will be to go wherever you want... Even the Moon.'' Makes a lot more sense now lol.

Yea, it looks like the next step for Kojima to with regards to making actual open world games. I think this could be super promising, given that the survival element of it is engaging enough.

... I have NO idea what to expect from this... In fact I just keep getting more confused the more information we have!

And I think I'm ok with that.

Long as there's some quirky and interesting bosses... Only thing MGS V really lacked to me (besides a more engaging story) and I trust the gameplay will be very nice and tight what with the decima engine and how MGS V played
