Topic: Cut scenes audio problem in Shadow of the Tomb Raider

During the cut scenes when the characters speak there is no sound and no subtitles either even though I have both turned on. Has anyone else had this issue in PS4 version of Shadow of the Tomb Raider? If so, were you able to fix it? What can be done to fix this issue?

@Don I have been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider these last few weeks and suffered quite some audio issues myself.

Judging from a quick Google search learnt that the games are infamous for them.

Anyway, I don't have a direct solution for your problem, but maybe I can do a few suggestions:

  • Check for a patch. I know you probably already did this, but seeing this is still a relatively new game, who knows!
  • Go to your PS4 System Audio settings. And make sure the PS4 is configured for the right amount of channels. For instance, if you have stereo or TV speakers, be sure not to put your settings on Surround and vice versa.
  • Sometimes in games it helps to just reset the settings. I don't know if such an option exists in Shadow, because I haven't played that one yet!

A lot of that is common sense, and you probably already tried it. Let me know if you find the answer!

Although I have had this sort of audio glitch occur on occasion with other games, I don’t recall it happening at all with Shadow of the Tomb Raider when I played it last year. In fact I don’t remember any major technical problems at all, but perhaps I subconsciously blocked it out of my memory. I played it at launch so maybe one of the patches actually caused this. Perhaps our resident TR enthusiast @RogerRoger has had some experience with this.

@Kidfried
Thank you, I’ll try your suggestions and post here if I found a resolution.

@Th3solution Thanks for the tag, but @Kidfried solidly had this one. I hope their suggestions have worked for @Don (particularly since I never encountered this bug during my time with Shadow, and the subsequent patches would only have improved the game, so I wouldn't have anything else to contribute).
