I recently for the Mass Effect Trilogy, and it's just amazing so far. Mass Effect 1 was great, though the renegade/paragon was too evil/good and the combat stunk. I'm now playing Mass Effect 2 and it's just amazing. One of the best games I've ever played. The choices are better, the combat is pretty good and helps the narrative flow better. The cutscene actions you can take are awesome, even if a bit poorly communicated as to what you will do sometimes - which also applied some dialouge choices in the game as well, small complaints though. The characters and plot are all so good, ME2 is living up to every bit of the hype. One more thing I must say I'm impressed with is that the story alawys feels like it's moving forward. Side-quests in these games almost always make games like this feel like time pauses when you want it to; not so with ME2.

That was one series I could never get into. Despite all the hype and all the awards these games got, something I just couldn't get into them. Glad to hear your enjoying it though.

@Tasuki: Any specific reasons, or did the series just not click with you in general?

Would like to try them but after playing and hating Dragon Age Inquisition I dunno...

@TripleGK: Yeah, a lot of the renegade options are awesome. Light spoiler: Remember when you're doing Thane's recruiting mission, and you come across the one guard who keeps talking about how he won't talk and his squad will come of he gets shot and you can just stop him by shoving him through the window? One of my favorite moments in the game lol. Interestingly enough, I'm about even on paragon/renegade. I like my teammates and am nice to them, but I often choose renegade decisions when dealing with enemies. I think it really makes my Shepard feel like a rounded out character. Bioware's decision to have two meters with neither being evil was brilliant.

@Jaz007: It just didn't click with me. The first time I played it was after I tried Dragon Age and I think that I 2as just tired of that genre. I tried it again a bit later and again just couldn't get into it. Then I rented it a few times from Gamefly and started it and again just didn't grab me. I would start it play it for an hour or two and have to stop (to go to work for example) and just wasn't eager enough to go back to it. It wasn't one of those games that OMG I need to finish now or OMG I can't put it down. So yeah due to my limited game time games like that I just don't play otherwise they feel more like a chore to me then actual fun. If that makes sense.

@kyleforrester87: They're so beyond the dragon age series. You should give them a shot, combat is smoother, quests feel more meaningful, and the characters are some of the best written in a video game.
ME3 is my favourite, despite what anyone says about the last 5 minutes.

@Plateface: yeahhh and the scifi thing is more appealing. I think I'm too far into current gen to go back, now. If we get remasters I'll give them a shot for sure, and I'm all over the next one (andromeda or something??)

i loved the Mass Effect series when it first came out but i tried replaying it last week and for some reason i just couldn't get into it

maybe my game preferences have changed a bit over the last few years?

"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"

"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

Jaz007

@FullbringIchigo: Perhaps the first one has aged too much for you? Maybe you should just start replaying with the second one.

@TripleGK: 100% agree with you mate. Though the one thing I hate with that game was that I couldn't romance Samara, hated that for a long time lol.

Greatest trilogy ever made... I can't even put in to words how hyped I am for the next one.

@adf86: Well I romanced Thane - that was some sick stuff right there. I didn't even know it was a thing then off to my room Thane came. Good thing I have the aquarium for the kids.

@kyleforrester87: I don't know - you would love me2, the hype has passed so I suppose the impact would be lost a touch, but its a masterpiece. Up there with ff7, tlou, elite, half life, mgs.... Just a fantastic game.

@kyleforrester87: Don't rob yourself of some of gaming's greatest experiences just because it's from last gen. It's bit hard going back at first, but you quickly get over it for the most part and find it's well worth it.

The trilogy of mass effect is by far my favourite games. I replayed the whole series just to save one character. There are so many options as to how to play your characters and choices do make a difference to how the story pans out across the whole series. Characters pop up from previous games in unusual places. Also the Citadel DLC is one of my favourite DLC of all time it was definatly created with the fans in mind.

The first game was the most RPG based the next two were really more shooters with the extra options. Not to say I did not enjoy them but they were just very different games, A lot of people did not seem to enjoy the ending of Mass Effect 3 but I found it to be satisfying and also challenging.

I would have loved to see a remaster of the trilogy but I know that will not happen. Partly the reason I just bought it for PC as well.

I just beat Mass Effect 2, that was one the greatest games and stories I've experienced. One issue though, I think I said something important I didn't mean to because I got caught up in the moment and misunderstood what something on the wheel meant. Someone Bioware really needs to make it a bit clearer. I did this: I told the illusive man that we we needed to use all of the collector's base's technology against the reapers, and after he replied I chose "yes, do we need each other," by which I meant you better do it becaus you need me. I realized about three seconds later I probably just mad a big mistake I quickly chose instinctively in the heat of the moment - meaning I probably agreed with him... Blast it Bioware, put a little extra text on those important decisions. Probably clear isn't good enough when emotions are running high.

I can not remember the bit but a lot of the choices I did or did not make had careful thought. Especially when I played it through the second time. This series makes you really think. I got really attached to certain characters I am not sure its been done better the way they tell the story and make you care about the characters.

I have played through the series twice now and still watch it on twitch seeing how people make different choices or have different play styles when they are in gun fights. What class did you go with?

@dryrain: I went with an infiltrator. And yeah, I thought carefully about a lot of choices. All the tension and pressure made me think quicker at the very end though. the last mission was so intense because your squad can die after making you care about them.. I lost Thane and Jack. Thane was loyal and I was really surprised and wish I hadn't lost him. I didn't care about Jack though.

My first playthrough I was a bad team leader and lost some of my people felt so guilty replayed the whole trilogy

@TripleGK: @TripleGK: I lost Thane when you went through the collector swarm. I chose Miranda as my Biotic as Jack and the Asari weren't loyal. Maybe if I had chosen Jack only she would have died.
