Topic: I cant enjoy normal games anymore after playing in VR.

After playing on the psvr, normal games on a TV dont have the same appeal anymore. Has anybody else had this? I cant be immersed in the games at all and it feels so abstract and fake.

@themcnoisy Can't say that I do. I will say that VR time does seem more 'valuable' to me. With my PS4, Vita & Switch all it takes is a couple of button presses and I'm back in the game. Whereas with PSVR I have to make a very conscious decision on whether or not I want to play.
Also with normal games I usually have something else going on. Unless it's a very story driven game or there is a great soundtrack I usually have the laptop/TV on. With PSVR I cut everything off and it's all about the game. This makes me appreciate the little things in VR even more so, whereas I would probably not think twice if it was on the big screen.

I actually think I take traditional gaming for granted sometimes.

I felt this a little when I first got VR at launch. Everything else felt a bit boring afterward. Then the hassle of always setting it up got to be a bit of a barrier and I went back to normal gaming more and VR being more occasionally. Also the price of games versus length meant I couldn't afford new content all the time.

I now think of VR and normal console gaming as two separate experiences. With VR it is more of an experience to me and I set aside time since I have to set it up.

I like the VR experiences but a majority of the time I still prefer normal gaming. Especially when you have someone come into the room and tap you on the shoulder nearly gives me a heart attack.

@Cpt_Price cool bro. I had fun too. As long as you stop checking my family out on facebook and acting crazy we can be friends on ps4 again. PS4 is fun please dont forget that. PSVR is awesome too.

@MadAussieBloke Im with you mate. Playing through some of my games recently has felt like a real chore. Its just mundane. Where as on psvr my minds completely blown away. I think I like the escapism being a dad with a majorly stressful life and Ive made sure my time on psvr is when my kids are not at home with me so I can enjoy it.

@Fight_Teza_Fight Ive never really taken gaming for granted but Im so bored of normal gaming now and Im just doing it out of habit. VR is way better and I can see myself going all on on vive 2 or the next big wave of vr stuff when my kids are a bit older.

Haha, when Ive gamed on psvr its been when I have set aside time to play on it. I dont think you could play vr any other way as it would ruin the experience.

I was looking at everyones trophy hauls last night and funnily enough @get2sammyb has the most trophies on my friends list!

@Th3solution @Rudy_Manchego A number of Theorists already believe we live in a simulation. Due to the physical composition of our world and solar system all working around equations it all fits together a bit too conveniently in their eyes.

@MadAussieBloke Snap, when I tried to play no mans sky I just kept thinking it would be better in VR. Then I deleted it lol.

@themcnoisy Yeah I've seen that theory - my personal opinion is that this is not true. For example, I had a dodgy curry last year and spent a few hours on the toilet as a result. That meant that someone, or something, coded that. What a terrible job that must have been.

Cool concept though - it would mean that us playing a simulation on VR is a simulation of a simulation. It is at that point I go cross eyed.

@themcnoisy Well I’m glad you’ve taken to VR!

I can’t say whether VR will ever replace traditional gaming for me as I’m constantly blown away by gaming in general cough*Monster Hunter World*cough.
I view it similar to @Rudy_Manchego as a separate platform/experience.
I will say that I’m no longer interested in horror games on traditional home consoles after Resi7VR. It’s VR or bust.

@Wesker I thought I had changed that last year. Havent even checked it Lol. Ive been enamoured by vr since egx 2016 so at least 17 months.

@MadAussieBloke To be fair, Yakuza zero and HZD last year were 2 of the best openworld games I have ever played for various reasons. But this is just it, playing on the psvr was better than those games as an experience.

@themcnoisy In which case mate, I would defo invest in the dildo stic--- I mean Move Controllers if you haven't. They aren't perfect but they do make some games that little bit more immersive. Basically, you need to play Super Hot VR with them.
