PS4 Physical games missing from played lists (and potentially more) - Help & Troubleshooting Forum

I've brought this up in the 'Chit Chat' thread but thought it worth highlighting more to see how many others are affected by this. The issue seemed to stem from when people started to get random games they had not played appearing in their lists, as noted by this Push Square article https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2026/06/ps5s-recently-played-... However, when this was deemed fixed I suddenly noticed The Witcher 3 missing from my most played list. I am currently replaying on PS5 and that is showing/tracking fine but the PS4 version is gone. I've come to realise a lot of games I have played form physical PS4 disc are all no longer tracked. All trophies are still fine but the system will not register I have played certain games. I even tested replaying one of these PS4 games, and while the app would show it while it was playing, as soon as I stopped it would not show as recently played. I've now checked all my physical games and discovered the following list of games are all gone The Witcher 3 Read Dead Redemption Mass Effect Legendary Edition Mass Effect Andromeda Tomb Raider Definitive Edition Rise of the Tomb Raider Fallout 4 Spider-Man Infamous Second Son No Mans Sky Steep (but does show I played demo) The Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 GT Sport (again shows only demo) MGS Ground Zeroes Death Stranding Horizon Zero Dawn Uncharted Lost Legacy Alien Isolation The Order 1886 Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order South Park Fractured but Whole AC Unity AC Syndicate The Last Guardian Yakuza Zero The Wolf Among Us Concrete Genie Call of Duty Infinite Warfare I also found one PS5 disc game missing Guardians of the Galaxy because I reversed the sleeve on it and forgot it was a PS5 disc. It's not all my physical PS4 games though as just as many are still showing just fine. If anyone else owns these games physically maybe you could check to see if they show for you.

Apparently it's working normally now. For me at least I can see my recently played physical games on my PS app. This "updated" playtime also matches accurately the hours I've played while the problem was going on.

Just came to say and see some of you have noticed. I haven't checked every game but noticed a few of the most obvious ones so it seems to be finally sorted.

@BearsEatBeets Thanks, buddy! Funnily enough, today is the first day I booted my PS5 back up after the most recent heatwave, and had seen that the issue might be fixed. I still reckon I might be missing a few (my old total was definitely over 240 yet it's currently reading 236) but the big-hitters are there, including Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, so I'm not gonna do any kind of forensic analysis until I feel the need. Here's hoping everybody gets everything back soon!

@Werehog I never really took notice of my total number to be able to tell if it's different. I'll probably give the list I made a quick glance to see if anything might still not be resolved.
My PS5 has also seen little use these last few weeks but should have a few days now to catch up on some gaming before the next 'wave'.

@BearsEatBeets Yeah, it was so satisfying to be able to chip away at something for a couple hours earlier, and while I'm tempted to try and squeeze in something "proper" before the temperature rises again, methinks I'm gonna stick to tidying up a few loose ends in the immediate. Perhaps one of those days might be a proper look at my list. If so, I'll return with what I find, just to put a cap on everything.

@BearsEatBeets I can confirm that the problem was finally resolved on Friday (July 17) after a month.
The number of games in my profile has increased from 289 to 372.

@mrc247 I just checked and mine are back too, thank you. Now it's saying 241, I was missing almost fifty.
