Alongside its introduction of a brand new, branching story path, this enhanced re-release features a huge number of gameplay alterations, not unlike what we saw with Persona 5 Royal. Combat has been rebalanced in some pretty significant ways, the quality of life enhancements are many, and there are even new locations to explore.
And of course, all of this is on top of the base game running better than ever. The RPG was plagued with performance issues on Switch, but we're expecting a flawless experience on PS5.

I loved SMT 5 and can't wait for this but it feels like they released a game without 90% of its story and just said "it's cool, we'll release it in a couple of years as the SMT V Now With An Actual Plot Edition"
I did not play the original SMTV but SMT and Persona are my newest game obsessions and it seems like this game is going to hit me just right.
Wonder how significant the difference is between this and the base game compared to P5R and its base game
I played the original SMTV version on my Switch and Ioved it, though it did feel like an incomplete story. Hopefully, this new iteration will expand the game in a more deeper level. I’m looking forward to replaying the game.
Wow, this is incredible. They completely revamped the game. RPG elements are now very strong, and the list of quality life improvements is crazy. For example the ability to save anywhere, this was a real problem in SMTV: on a 100 hours gameplay, half the time was about going back and forth the save point to avoid taking any risks and losing progression. Free camera to explore the map is a very nice feature as well, in some places the landscape was confusing.
Totally hyped for this game, would be a day one purchase if Elden Ring DLC was not coming at the sale time.
Aww, I kinda liked the reliance on save points. Really made it tense when you were exploring Da'at.
The biggest improvement, which isn't really highlighted here but was discussed on Twitter, is the way they re-balanced the game's aggressive level scaling when it came to damage calculations. SMT games are supposed to incentivize experimentation with the mechanics, not push the player to level grind.
