nathanuc1988 commented on Talking Point: Why 2012 is PS3's Most Mainstre...:

@Splat It's odd because I almost feel the opposite lately. Every time I'm playing a PS3 game, I can't help but wish it was on Vita instead. A lot of games coming out don't really seem to have any technical reasons for being only PS3 and not Vita as well which makes me wish I could just HAVE it on Vita. Except for games with Move or racing games, I just can't see myself buying a PS3 version over a Vita version if all things else are 'equal'.

nathanuc1988 commented on Sony Engineer References PlayStation 4 in CV:

@pikmanica @rjejr: CV stands for Curriculum Vitae. There you go. All clear now. Kidding. Basically, a curriculum vitae is just a mega-beefed up resume. Think of a CV as Chris Redfield from RE5 and a resume Chris Redfield from RE4. It goes into much more details regarding education, projects, jobs, and skill sets. I could be wrong, but I think it's a newer thing that is slowly taking over resumes in a few particular job markets.

I've put in a lot of gameplay in Warhawk with my little brother. I tell you, nothing infuriated me more in gaming than some of those uneven matches haha.
Due to the complex strategic side of this game, it sounds like I'm still better off with MAG. Great review Sammy

nathanuc1988 commented on Sony Registers Forsaken Souls Domain:

@DraculaX I definitely wouldn't call it harder, but it was much more frustrating. So much to the point that I never bothered to finish it. Everything just felt long and strung out which took all the fun from it. Demon's Souls to this day is one of my favorite games of all time but I just COULDN'T enjoy Dark Souls at all for some reason.

@hamispink
Peace Walker definitely provided me with the most hours of gameplay in the PS3 edition of this game so I too was disappointed to see it being left out on Vita. I'm hoping that the redesigned controls for MGS2 and 3 make it a more pleasant experience for first timers.

You can use the L2/R2 combined with the D-pad to call out commands. L2 is Defensive and R2 is Offensive if I recall correctly. I haven't played it much recently after a long streak of losses due to drop outs and brain dead cpu players...

nathanuc1988 commented on Talking Point: Why Vita Criticisms Are Premature:

@isnchz Just touching on a couple points briefly.
You say games like Uncharted could have been played on the PSP? Absolutely not. Yes, Peace Walker was on PSP but the controls were annoying and took to long to get used to. Overall, the lack of a right joystick hurt the game for many people. Would anyone argue that playing a game like peace walker with one joystick is better than two? They'd be crazy. The graphics on those games simply cannot compare to those on the Vita... there is no way to argue otherwise. Even though graphics shouldn't be the main focus on a game, it helps improve the experience.
I don't feel like getting into the indie dev argument as I feel @slapshop laid out a more compelling argument than I can, but for me, I'm not interested in those quick 1 hour mobile games. I bought my Vita to play "REAL" games without being tethered to a couch. I purchased Stardrone just because it was cheap and I was bored.. in the end I didn't care for it much because I felt it didn't suit the Vita's hardware. With that being said, I also would not play a game like that on my Droid Bionic because those styled games just aren't "fun" for me. (With the exception of DrawSomething)
For the money, I will agree that the PSP is a 'better buy' if you aren't thinking long term. The thing is, this is the case EVERY TIME a new system is released. The idea is the hardware you purchase will grow over time while the other dies out.

(sorry for typing errors, I just woke up)

nathanuc1988 commented on Talking Point: Why Vita Criticisms Are Premature:

I don't agree with many of the people saying that iOS games are better than Vita games. There are a couple of Vita games that might work on Android/iOS but a MAJORITY of the games released on Vita could not be played on those devices at all. I'm not hating on the iOS or Android community, but name an action game as deep and well made as Uncharted: Golden Abyss or a fighting game as good as Mortal Kombat. Those are just a couple examples of MANY. If you just want to play a game for a couple of minutes while on the can, sure, Android or iOS might be a better choice but I don't think that is what Sony is aiming for. Vita is designed for console quality games you can take on the go.
A lot are using iOS as an example but what about Android? Most games that you have to pay for on the iOS platform are free on Android.. does that mean Apple is wrong to charge more? In my opinion, I have yet to play a mobile game that is worth paying for as most feel like nothing more than a ten minute flash game. You wouldn't pay $1.99 for a flash game, but you would on iOS?

TL;DR: iOS/Android and Vita are two completely different devices made for different purposes. Games are a bi-product of the mobile phone market. Those devices were not designed for gaming (as the lack of buttons clearly shows) but Vita was made as a GAMING device for gamers. Sure, games cost more, but for the extra cost you receive quality and a superior experience. MOST Vita games should be compared to PS3/Xbox 360 games and not iOS games so arguing price of the two is silly.

nathanuc1988 commented on Talking Point: Does Vita Really Need Online Mu...:

I loved playing Socom online on my PSP back in the day! I don't see online multiplayer as NECESSITY, but it's a nice feature.

I don't think a game like CoD which ONLY focuses on multiplayer would do very well on Vita though. I think most "Sony gamers" expect more than a multiplayer with a rushed/tacked on single player campaign. In my personal opinion,a compelling story is more important than multiplayer.

I was playing this game for a couple hours. The music is great and game play is addicting. One of those "just one more level" type of games haha. My biggest complaint is that everytime you fail it tries to have you buy the level skip 'dlc'...

nathanuc1988 commented on Sony Preparing for Biggest Annual Loss in a De...:

It's all about product hype. Sony just doesn't have hype anymore. For the amazing product that is Vita, people just don't acknowledge it for what it is. Companies like Apple and Nintendo could sell a polished turd because of hype and lock-in value.

One problem is that while Sony had an AMAZING year last year in terms of quality games, it was difficult to sell consumers so many games in a short amount of time. I know I passed on a few different AAA titles just because I have so many games that are still unplayed in the shrink wrap. Even if Microsoft only had one or two good first party games last year, those games had hype and I would argue a higher % of Xbox owners purchased said games.

TL;DR: Same quality games, less frequent and more hype = problem solved. Easier said than done though

Yeah, I LOVED LP2 but was very disappointed with Capcom. I felt they abandoned it way too early. That game more than most others in the generation would have benefited from DLC (not just boss rush..). I hope LP3 isn't just spit out to make a quick buck and than left in the cold...

nathanuc1988 commented on Rumour: Early Orbis Tech Specs Leaked:

@Kage_88
I have a super beast of a desktop that hardly ever gets used lol... The problem with comparing a console to a PC is that you can't compare a console to a PC. If you look at the PS3's stats and build a PC to those specs, I can promise you that PC wouldn't play anything in the last year or two. It would hardly run Windows smoothly. It's just completely different coding a game where you know your EXACT resources for everyone. This is why console games will always look much better than a PC game with similar specs.

TL;DR: You cannot compare PC stats with a console's stats

I can only picture a bunch of Sony executives at a round table:
"We need to fix this security hole but if we release a firmware with no extra features, people will be upset.... so what should we add?....how about caps lock? Everyone cool with caps lock? Cool, caps lock it is"

nathanuc1988 commented on Capcom Explains Resident Evil's Action Approach:

Action games aren't the only types doing well. Look at how Silent Hill adapted. Downpour awesome level of exploration and creative puzzle design while still keeping an amazing setting and atmosphere of a survival horror.

I'm beyond hooked on Silent Hill Downpour. While this likely won't be much of a survival horror game, I have hopes that it becomes the first 'true' survival horror game. There's a first time for everything.

I really don't think it's a horrible game at all.. 5/10 is "average". I'd say it would be a solid 8/10 if the follow two things were fixed (easy fix too!):
1. Better hit detection
2. Improved bullet damage (shouldn't take 3-4 headshots with the strongest sniper to kill something imo)

nathanuc1988 commented on Review: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City ...:

I just got done playing it a few hours with my good buddy. I really really enjoy the game personally. It clearly has many many many problems that shouldn't exist considering it's a freakin Resident Evil game by Capcom.. but I'm hoping for some patches down the road. Definitely deserving of a 5/10 in it's current state/price.

Also, it's a mix of Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 with a better setting in my opinion. Very difficult on professional too!

My list of hopes. I'll try to be realistic as well.
1.) Unlocked remote play. Let me play my PS3 games remotely!
2.) Media streaming (ps3/pc)
3.) Real HTML5 support via browser
4.) Stability in low power situations
5.) Stability in audio (rarely, audio cuts out and causes system to lock up)

@Squiggle55
Agreed. I don't think people choose between games based on trophies or achievements. Usually, I would think people would just choose one platform and stick with it for overall trophies/gamer score.
I'd PREFER Sony to keep the system the same as it is now. As much as I love trophies, I'd prefer quality over quantity. (Ignore my plat in Sly Cooper plz....)
