We love Tekken
Granted, the series has felt a little flat in recent iterations (particularly the hit-and-miss Tekken 6), but we still believe it's a solid fighting franchise, and due a return to its former glory. So it's with some excitement that we read a recent Eurogamer Portugal report, which declares that Tekken 7 is a real product currently in development. To be honest, we wouldn't mind seeing..
The scenario campaign in Tekken 6 (essentially, a modern Streets Of Rage) was absolutely not the best thing about the game, but you have to admire Namco's will to tout it
Not only is it the focus of the game's menu, but it's also about to get a patch adding in online co-op. There'll even be voice chat. The patch is due on Monday.
A leaked poster for the upcoming Tekken movie confirmed our fears
The movie will feature no Kuma, Panda or Roger Jr. There is literally no excuse for this in an age where CGI is basically properly amazing. We suggest you boycott this movie out of principle.
We'll soon be able to actually, y'know, play Tekken 6 online. Namco Bandai have announced that a patch will launch tomorrow, improving connectivity between players and subsequently reducing lag. Namco are also improving the responsiveness of button inputs, and adding in a cancel option if you're unhappy with connection of your matched opponent. Excellent.
Whilst most people probably care more about a Tekken 6 patch than DLC at this point, producer Katsuhiro Harada has commented on uk
playstation.com that any released content for the game is likely to be free. We'll won't argue with getting something for nothing so, we look forward to some content. We look forward to a multiplayer patch even...
To celebrate the European release of Tekken 6 today, we've teamed up with the fine folks over at Namco Bandai to offer you with the chance of winning a whole pile of Tekken 6 related goodies
Tekken 6 is the biggest beat 'em up game to hit the Playstation 3 this year, with a massive roster of fighters and moves to choose from. Tekken 6 is also the...
We're reviewing Tekken 6 as we type, and rather enjoying it to be honest
It has its faults, but if you're a Tekken fan, there's no way you're coming away disappointed. Sadly, the game's online is probably the weakest part, with very hit or miss net-code leading to lag. Sometimes it's fine, other times it's less so. It's always playable, just not...
Confirmed: you need to have ZZ Top and other rock acts in your game to be successful
Also, you kinda need to be reasonably priced. That's right folks, the UK charts ain't looking too pretty for DJ Hero which debuted at number 20. Despite Freestyle Games doing a pretty stellar job (review forthcoming) on the electro-hip-hop-dance-pop arm of Activision's music "Hero" franchise, the game..
2.5 million copies and ours is stuck in the postal strike! Thanks Royal Mail. Still, full points for effort Namco, who've shipped 2.5 million copies of Tekken 6 worldwide; even if the British ones aren't getting delivered. Of course, shipped copies don't necessarily relate to sold copies, but given this is a Tekken game, we expect the numbers...
Now you can
Hurrah! Namco Bandai are seriously selling some Tekken themed panties in collaboration with Luscious Tokyo. They'll set you back a bit at ¥4,200 ($46) each, but dude, they look so awesome. In addition to the pants there are is a whole host of Tekken apparel including t-shirts and lighters. Genuinely amazing.
Whadda're You Buyin'?
Quite an exciting week in the PushSquare office this week, with two of our personal most anticipated games hitting store shelves. PushSquare's Playstation Pick Of The Week: DJ Hero - PS2/PS3 Ok, so it's really expensive, but it's crammed to the rafters with music you should like, and the gameplay genuinely looks like a lot...
We've posted our belief for a while that Sony finally understand what people want out of Playstation Home
Today we finally got confirmation of that. Sony have shown off the new Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Home Space on the Playstation Blog today which genuinely looks mind-blowingly awesome. Aside from genuinely looking great, the content is...
Sony seem quite keen on bundling up Playstation 3s around the world right now
The problem is, there seems to be no real consistency over who is getting what. Take this statement from Sony UK regarding NextGamer.nl's uncovered Tekken 6 bundle, "We're not doing that bundle but one of the territories might be." Erm, ok. Seems like Sony are as confused as we are about who is getting which..
We've really no idea what's going on in this Tekken 6 video
We do know that it's in super slow motion, and very artistically shot. A little pretentious if you will. But still, you can't deny that it's pretty damn classy. After all, "What will you fight for?" is a question we should all ask ourselves when we step into the arena with a boxing kangaroo. In conjunction with the viral videos..
Every now and then you know a good Tekken trailer has come around
How? Because it makes little to zero sense. This Tekken 6 trailer is one such of that kind. If anybody could explain what's going on, please send us answers on a postcard. Otherwise, heck, we'll just leave it as a mystery. Looking bloody brilliant in our opinion though.
Tekken 6 is coming bundled with an exclusive stick if you want to shell out $150
We must admit, they do look rather neat. The question is, what looks neater — hot Namco Bandai girls or hot Tekken sticks? We couldn't possibly choose. Thanks Joystiq for the photo.
Namco Bandai have started the hype train for their appearance at GamesCom in Cologne, Germany next week
Apparently they are bringing eight games, obviously including Tekken 6 and Katamari, plus some "major exclusive new announcements". Namco Bandai are penciled in for a show on Wednesday, August 19th, so we're guessing the announcements will be made then. Any hopes, dreams, wants? How..
Namco reckon that the traditions of unlocking characters in fighting games as you play them are now totally outdated
Speaking with Videogamer.com, director Katsuhiro Harada explained his reasoning:Why we locked the characters originally was that in the arcades, it was kind of to extend the life of the game by gradually unlocking characters. And also with the home versions as well, because you can..
Following the announcement of that wonderful Tekken 6 arcade stick bundle earlier this morning, we're sure there's little surprise that a good number of you have stuck in preorders for Namco Bandai's upcoming beat-em-up
But what date will the game be available for you to pick up? Namco Bandai say October 27th. Launching first in North America "with the European, Japanese and Asian release to..
Much like Street Fighter IV's themed fighting sticks, copies of Tekken 6 will be bundled with wireless Hori fighting sticks and an exclusive art book
The bundles will be available for $150 in the USA. No word on whether the bundle will make it to European shores. Namco Bandai also confirmed collaboration with webcomic Penny Arcade. The "Samurai" pack will include a playable Cardboard Tube..
You know what, Tekken has got to a point where its biggest hook is how ridiculous it is
So it totally makes sense to get female anime clothes designers working on the the latest iteration of the franchise, Tekken 6. In the above image, you'll note Jin wearing a wonderful white, erm, jacket-robe-type-thing. We're sure that's a term used in the fashion industry.
The last Tekken 6 trailer was a bit boring because it didn't have Namco's typical glitch-rock running in the background
The new one? Check. If we had to critique the "choon", we'd moan it's a bit noisey. But hey. It glitches all over the place. "Win".
Well here's a turn-up for the books
It seems like the PSP really is making a comeback this year. We've already had the announcements of a ton of games (Motorstorm: Arctic Edge, LittleBigPlanet, etc.) but this is first we've heard of Tekken 6. Alas, according to IGN it's official. Set to launch alongside its PS3 counterpart, the game will feature a new "Ghost" infrastructure, allowing..
Here's a Tekken 6 trailer
Does it remind you of anything? How about every Tekken trailer there has been over the past 10 years or so? Sadly, this is without the electro-glitch-fest tunes of old. Sad emoticon.
The most important news to come out about Tekken 6 thus far: new character Zafina looks exactly the same as TV-host Kirsty Gallacher
Fascinating, right? Right, ok, in order to turn this into a worthwhile article, we'll direct you in the way of Kotaku who have 20 pieces of high-res artwork for some of Tekken's new (and returning) characters.
Yoshinori Ono has told Japanese gaming-bible Famitsu that he'd like Namco's Tekken series to take advantage of Sony's social networking platform Home
Why? Because he wants to see a cross platform fighting tournament between Namco's brawler and his own Street Fighter IV. Capcom have already committed their support to the service with a bunch of...
Is it ok for us to be the tiniest bit disappointed with this trailer for Tekken 6? Sure the electro and close-ups are cool but well, after Namco's very own Soul Calibur IV this game just looks terribly disappointing from a graphical stance
We're sure there's plenty way to go to polish things up but would we be far wrong saying this trailer doesn't even show a step-up from PSN download Tekken 5?..
