Ever wondered what prototypes for peripherals look like? Well, there’s actually a reason companies don’t release them – as this Tony Hawk: Ride prototype is a testament to the “unfinished product”. The board, taped together with duct tape and featuring arcade buttons looks like something out of a horror movie.

PushSquare’s Playstation Pick Of The Week: Assassin’s Creed II (EU/USA)

Ubisoft’s biggest new IP of the generation returns for a second dose in the renaissance period this week across Europe and the US. Looks like Ubisoft have really stepped up the variety in this sequel. We can’t wait.

Also:

God Of War Collection launches this Tuesday on Playstation 3 in the US. Europeans get your import on. The excellent LittleBigPlanet PSP is due to launch in Europe and the USA this week. And if you have a big wallet, you might want to see just how ridiculous Tony Hawk: Ride is. It comes with a skateboard.

Tony Hawk Ride Pushed Back Until December 4th In The UK

Tony Hawk Ride Will Be Coming To The UK Two Weeks Late.

Tony Hawk Ride Will Be Coming To The UK Two Weeks Late.

Tony Hawk Ride will still hit the US on November 17th as planned. Here in the UK though, change of plan. It’s been put back by two weeks to the 4th December. We suppose this sucks if you’re really excited for the game but, alas, at least you have an extra two weeks to save up for more plastic peripherals. Right?!

GamesCom 09: Tony Hawk Ride Trailer Is All Levels Of Awkward

We don’t know what it is about Tony Hawk Ride but, we just don’t get it. Sure it looks like standing on the board is probably quite intuitive for movement, but we can’t see how hand-plants could ever work, seeing as how you should be virtually upside down. How can they ever naturally replicate that?

Still, this host of pro-skaters seem way into it. We remain sceptical.

Tony Hawk Ride Launches November 20th For £100 In The UK.

Tony Hawk Ride will hit British stores on November 20th at the dastardly sum of £100. A nice round figure, but a real beast when you consider you’ll be getting a game and a plastic board to step on.

If you’re seriously still interested in buying Tony Hawk Ride then know that if you buy it from Brit retailer GAME, you’ll get a board with a picture of an eagle on it.

The Digital Download vs. The Peripheral, Is The Video Game Industry Moving In Separate Directions? – “Twiggy” The PushSquare Opinionator

Social Gaming: A Concept Digital Distribution Doesn't Agree With.

It’s an interesting time for the video games industry. On one hand – you have the likes of the Wii and its army of peripherals selling like crazy. Such items like the Wii’s Balance Board, Wheel, Zapper and Motion Plus will only ever be available from retail stores; and they sell like mad. On the opposing hand you have Sony’s PSP Go, a handheld system designed with digital downloads in mind undercutting the traditional retail stores. The video game industry seems to be moving in two conflicting directions at alarming rates.

There Are “Many Games” Planned For Tony Hawk Skateboard Peripheral

Robomodo Want You To Think Of The Tony Hawk Ride Board As A Platform.

Robomodo Want You To Think Of The Tony Hawk Ride Board As A Platform.

Speaking with Videogamer.com, Robomobo president Joshua Tsui has confirmed that there are a number of games planned for upcoming Tony Hawk Ride’s skateboard peripheral.

“It’s really important to us that when people buy this package that they understand that, right now we’re concentrating on Tony Hawk Ride, but we want to make sure that people have a good return on their investment so there are many games that are planned for this peripheral,” said Tsui.

He added: “We look at it less as a peripheral, as more of a platform. The obvious ones are snowboarding and surfing and such, but there are a lot of games that can be used with this board, and we’re really excited to start working on those.”

The game is due for release later this year. Time will tell as to whether the game is successful enough to warrant further releases supporting the peripheral. Install base is important when it comes to peripheral focused games.

So, Errr, Tony Hawk Ride Is Not An XBOX 360 Exclusive In The UK

Activision’s PR company made a bit of a cock-up yesterday. A major cock-up in fact. They claimed that Tony Hawk Ride was going to be an XBOX 360 exclusive in the UK. It’s not. It’s coming out on Playstation 3, XBOX 360 and Wii.

Let’s never speak of this again.

Tony Hawk Ride: Microsoft Say "No" To Playstation 3 Version.

The Internet erupted last week when it emerged Sony had pulled a “dick move” over European gamers with their exclusivity of Ghostbusters in the European region. Of course it was eventually revealed that Atari no longer existed in Europe and that the game probably wasn’t coming out if Sony hadn’t moved quickly.

Cue Microsoft pulling the plug on British gamer’s hopes of playing the new Tony Hawk Ride game on Playstation 3. No word on Activision pulling out of the region as of yet.

Ready To Play Some Games With This?

Ready To Play Some Games With This?

Such is this generation’s obsession with packing in ridiculous space consuming controllers for every single game that comes out (*glares at the dusty PushSquare office Wii*) it was announced last night that the upcoming Tony Hawk Ride will come with a friggin’ skateboard. We’d embed the trailer but it’s a bit crap. You can watch it here.

Alas the game will be available for PS3 and we’re told that it is really fun. We’ll have more soon.
