Fat Princess: Fistful Of Cake, A.K.A. Fat Princess 1.5.

Despite Fat Princess: Fistful Of Cake – the PSP repackaging of Sony’s PSN darling – looking just like its Playstation 3 counterpart, “it’ll feature 50 percent more content” according to those working on the title.

So what’s new? New modes to begin with — including one such mode where the class switching hat generators are busted from the off; meaning you’ll need to get your waddle on and collect some resources to repair the darn things. Another mode will also see the removal of the princess. In her place – bombs. Yes, you’ll need to work as a team to bomb the castle, hilarious.

The game is being dubbed as Fat Princess 1.5, with apparently beefed up single-player, a new map and the afore mentioned modes.

The Big NPC, Dawg; New Pork City.

Ever wanted to play on a map entitled “New Pork”. Well Fat Princess is at last going to grant you that right, as a part of new DLC announced at PAX.  According to the developers, “New Pork offers an exciting array of strategies to slice and dice your way to victory. Use multiple sewer shortcuts to sneak up behind your enemies, blow up barricades to open up new routes of assault and defend your princess from the rooftops.”

Apparently there are more Fat Princess related announcements to come. We’re looking forward to it.

We're Assuming Only One Person From Each Team Can Play As The King.

We already told you about chefs, ninjas and pirates coming to Fat Princess, but what about the king? Looks like he’s heading to the party too. Titan Studios have been very quiet about these new characters — it’ll interesting to see how they are implemented seeing as new classes could effectively change the entire game. Still, it’s going to be hilarious seeing kings fighting chefs in Fat Princess’ whimsical world.

Chefs Are Headed To Fat Princess At Some Point.

Titan Studios are teasing new classes for Fat Princess. The teasers on their blog come without explanation or description. Just words and images. Still, we can safely assume that Chefs, Ninjas and Pirates are heading to the multiplayer based title. While the other classes are pretty self explanatory, we’re curious to see how the Chefs play. Will they be required to bake cake for the Princess to eat?

Fat Princess, Now With Playable Online Mutliplayer.

Hey America, Fat Princess now works. At least that’s what we’ve heard from people in the region who have downloaded the latest game-fixing patch for the title. The patch is designed to improve server stability, reduce lag, and fix a few bugs.

Europe are to get the patch sometime next week (presumably the rigorous SCEE quality control policy is holding it back that little bit further than the American version). If you’re based in Europe (like us) may we suggest eating real cake as a substitute for playing Fat Princess. It helps.

That All Important Fat Princess Patch Is On Its Way.

Fat Princess is a great game. We said so in our review. Problem is, it’s kind of unplayable right now. We’ve been trying to hop on to the game for two days and the multiplayer has just been broken. Thankfully a patch has reached its testing stage and will probably hit the public soon.

Developers Titan Studios have detailed the fixes the patch deals with on their website:

• Failed Game Connections
• Lag
• Hosting Problems
• AoE Scoring Exploits
• Stalemates
• Missing Princess (on certain levels)
• Dead Hat Machines
• Scoreboard Issues (only top 1000 scores shown)
• Ranking System Problems

The team have also listed a number of gameplay tweaks for improving the experience and they want your help. If you think there’s a way the experience could be improved, drop them a line.

Fat Princess on Playstation 3 Review.

Fat Princess is cunningly original take on multiplayer gameplay complemented by clever mechanics and a glorious art style. If you take the time to learn the game and overlook its flaws, fun is almost guaranteed.
