A report in the latest issue of Famitsu suggests that there is to be another additional chapter added to Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition alongside the “Lost In Nightmares” flashback episode. According to details in the magazine, the additional chapter is currently being kept under wraps.

When purchased as DLC, the two new chapters will cost just $5 a piece, which sounds like excellent value to us; especially if they’re of a decent length. There’ll also be two new costume packs available for $2 a piece.

Well this is surprising. We originally expected Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition to be a completely new retail package. However, according to Joystiq the new missions and Playstation Motion Controller support will be available as DLC for European and American players.

Japanese players will get the content in a new retail box.

With a sub-title like “Alternative Edition”, Capcom will be lucky to shift 50 copies of the Playstation Motion Control supported upgrade of Resident Evil 5. Still, in a company report Capcom have stated they hope the numbers to be somewhere around 300k.

Interestingly, that same report predicts figures of 3.7million for Lost Planet 2. High hopes indeed Capcom.

Check Out The Debut Trailer To Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut

This Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut has us totally sold on Resident Evil 5 again. A new chapter where we get to play as Jill Valentine, dude, we’re all over that. Plus the new version will have Playstation Motion Controller support — functionality which should make Resident Evil 5 as fun to play as RE4: Wii Edition. We’re so all over it.

Let’s Watch Resident Evil 5 Played With The Playstation Motion Controller

Remember how Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition was the best version of the game because of the controls? Yeah, it actually felt a step back to play Resident Evil 5 with the DualShock didn’t it? Don’t worry – because Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut is all about Wii controls Playstation Motion Controller controls.

If you check out the video from 2:50 in, you’ll note the precise gameplay provided by the Playstation Motion Controller. Our main issue is that the game is being played with a motion controller and a DualShock held with one hand. Correct us if we’re wrong but this sounds like a terrible idea. How about putting an analogue stick on there and selling them in pairs? Sure it might bump up the costs a bit but, hey, you’d essentially have a DualShock, motion controller and nunchuck in your hands? Plus you’d have two motion controllers as a standard in every home. It doesn’t mean every game needs to use two, but should a game require it, they’ll know that everyone will have two controllers in their home. Plus it’ll be multiplayer compatible out of the box for those games that only require one controller Please think about it Sony. Please. Sell the controllers as pairs.

Otherwise, friggin’ awesome — one of our favourite games of the year is now likely to be roughly 62% better.

The title Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut will launch this Spring with a bunch of new features alongside the new Motion Control support. Which we actually think will make the game a bit easier to control y’know.
