Dylan Cuthbert, the president of Pixeljunk’s Q-Games, has confirmed that PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe will get a UMD release on April 27th in the US. The PSP title was originally released as a download on the Playstation Store, and earned a 4/4 in our review.

If you’re yet to play it, and can’t bare to use up space on your PSP’s Pro-Duo, this is well worth checking out.

Yo, You Want More PixelJunk Racers?

A mysterious rating by the ESRB for PixelJunk Racers “2nd Lap” suggests we’re due a dose of new PixelJunk Racers content anytime soon. It almost seems traditional for a PixelJunk title to get some extra DLC somewhere down the line, so if you were a fan of Racers we suggest keeping your ears to the ground for an official announcement of 2nd Lap.

More Pixeljunk Shooter? Don't Mind If We Do.

Q-Games’ boss Dylan Cuthbert has told G4 that his company are currently working on a sequel to last year’s PSN hit Pixeljunk Shooter. He told the website:

“Normally sequels are just a re-hashing of the ideas in the original.

“But for PixelJunk Shooter we still have a ton of ideas on the drawing board and the engine has lots of potential we want to use before moving onto our next idea. It would be a waste not to use it to try out more stuff.”

Cuthbert said the sequel is being developed alongside a new title in the Pixeljunk universe. We don’t think anybody will be complaining about more Pixeljunk.

Despite an agonisingly premature campaign finale, PixelJunk Shooter maintains the simplicity and raw invitation that has made Q-Games’ pseudo-retro-genre-hopping franchise a clear winner.

Piracy Seriously Discouraging Future Pixeljunk PSP Ports

Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe Honestly Rocks. You Should Exchange Money For It.

Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe Honestly Rocks. You Should Exchange Money For It.

We gave Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe a perfect 4/4 because it’s awesome. Naturally, that makes the game a desirable product. And we all know pirates like to steal products, rather than pay for them. If you’re one of those pirates, reading this post, then you should probably be informed that piracy hurts game developers. In the case of Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe, it’s hurting a lot.

So much in fact, Q-Games’ Dylan Cuthbert (genius behind the Pixeljunk franchise) was prompted to Tweet about the issue. “I don’t think we’ll port anything else to the PSP, we have to see how PJMD does as there’s a *lot* of piracy.”

Cuthbert did later clarify to Joystiq that it will very much depend on the actual sales of Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe as to whether PSP ports occur in the future.

So dirty pirates, if you’re reading, support developers – pay for the games you intend to play. Otherwise we might end up with no games at all. You’re not only going to harm us legitimate consumers, but also the industry and ultimately yourselves.
