Piracy Seriously Discouraging Future Pixeljunk PSP Ports

Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe Honestly Rocks. You Should Exchange Money For It.

Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe Honestly Rocks. You Should Exchange Money For It.

We gave Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe a perfect 4/4 because it’s awesome. Naturally, that makes the game a desirable product. And we all know pirates like to steal products, rather than pay for them. If you’re one of those pirates, reading this post, then you should probably be informed that piracy hurts game developers. In the case of Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe, it’s hurting a lot.

So much in fact, Q-Games’ Dylan Cuthbert (genius behind the Pixeljunk franchise) was prompted to Tweet about the issue. “I don’t think we’ll port anything else to the PSP, we have to see how PJMD does as there’s a *lot* of piracy.”

Cuthbert did later clarify to Joystiq that it will very much depend on the actual sales of Pixeljunk Monsters Deluxe as to whether PSP ports occur in the future.

So dirty pirates, if you’re reading, support developers – pay for the games you intend to play. Otherwise we might end up with no games at all. You’re not only going to harm us legitimate consumers, but also the industry and ultimately yourselves.

  1. Delete your game through the PSP Home Menu (select Game>Memory Stick>press the triangle button with PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe highlighted and select Delete).
  2. Connect to PlayStation Store > Select View Downloads and re-download PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe from the Download List.

TGS 09: Q-Games Somewhat Peeved With Sony

The Fans Still Think The PixelJunk Games Are Worthy Of Attention, Dylan!

The Fans Still Think The PixelJunk Games Are Worthy Of Attention, Dylan!

Q-Games, the developers behind the PixelJunk games, are a little disgruntled with Sony of Japan. On his Twitter page, company big-wig Dylan Cuthbert has expressed his displeasure with Sony’s treatment of their upcoming PSP port of PSN title PixelJunk Monsters. He wrote:

I’m pretty annoyed that Sony Japan put Crystal Defenders PSP on their booth at TGS but wouldn’t let us put Monsters Deluxe PSP on it!

yep, it’s “because it’s Square” but it sucks.. Japan still has a long way to go to support indies…

I think SCEJ has something against Monsters Deluxe, they’ve been very unresponsive about it, I doubt we’re in the sony TGS catalog

Square’s simply a lot bigger than us so Sony gives them priority.

We can understand the reason for his comments too – PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is a more important title for the Playstation brand and its quality.

However, Dylan can at least rest safe in the knowledge that here at PushSquare we awarded Monsters Deluxe a coveted 4/4 review score.
