#36: Patapon 2 on Playstation Portable.

We said: “Thanks to its low price-point, the fact that Patapon 2 feels more like an extension than a sequel is perfectly balanced with the fact that there is plenty of fun to be had, whether you’re a series veteran or a newcomer.”

#37: Burn, Zombie, Burn! on Playstation 3.

#37: Burn, Zombie, Burn! on Playstation 3.

We said: “Burn, Zombie, Burn! is an interesting return to old-school arcade gameplay; comical in its nods to retro exploitation vogue, yet complex in its scoring structure.”

We said: “Echoes is a deceptively simple, yet deviously difficult release, that will have you hooked for a few hours before you exhaust its lot.”

Fancy Some Digital T-Shirts Involving Patapon?

If Only These Were Real Shirts.

If Only These Were Real Shirts.

Something exciting always happens when we see Playstation Home clothes. At first we think they’re real. And we let out a little yelp as we scour the page for a “Buy It Now” link; until we finally realise they are DIGITAL clothes for our DIGITAL character in Sony’s DIGITAL world. Sigh.

At least these Patapon 2 themed shirts do look kind of cool. No word on whether they’ll be free or not, but they’ll be available from the Threads store in Home this Thursday, May 6th.

Sony USA: Patapon 2 To Be A Digital “Test-Case”

Patapon 2 Will Be A Digital Download In The USA.

Patapon 2 Will Be A Digital Download In The USA.

We really liked Patapon 2. Apparently it’s not out in the USA yet – in fact it’s not out for a whole month – but when it does land it’s going to be a download only product. Sony plan on making the game download only as a “one time test case”.

“We’re considering a digital only format for the Patapon 2 release as a one time test case as we continue to explore consumer preferences for digital content,” reads the statement. “The downloadable game will be available on May 5th at both retail and via the PlayStation Store. We remain focused on providing superior games and entertainment experiences in both the UMD and digital formats and are working closely with our partners to deliver the best PSP line up in our history.”

We know a few American’s who are a little upset over this (”I want the game in my collection blah blah”). While this definitely re-establishes the possibility of a download-only PSP in the future, we must admit to being a little surprised that Sony USA would wait so long to test out PSP digital-downloads if the rumours are to be believed, and the UMD-less PSP will be available this Christmas.
