Youtube user Otimus is one of the first people to get their hands on Netflix on the Playstation 3. His Netflix disc arrived today, and naturally, he set about capturing footage of the new software in use right away. According to Otimus there are some issues with the service, like video only rendering at 480p, but we’ll put any problems down to teething problems for the next couple of weeks and see how things fare when the service has got its legs.
It looks fairly smooth at the moment though.

Netflix On PS3 Will Remain Disc Based In The Near Future, Before Being Integrated Into The XMB.
Yesterday, Netflix announced that they are to launch their service on the Playstation 3, after a period of exclusivity on the XBOX 360. The Playstation 3 will provide free movie streaming at the cost of a Netflix subscription, substantially cheaper than the XBOX 360 which requires a Live membership too.
However, the initial launch of Netflix on the Playstation 3 will require a disc to run, while Sony and Netflix work on an XMB upgrade that will allow movie streaming direct from the dash.
With many pressing questions regarding the integration, Joystiq took to interviewing the fine folks at Netflix. So, when will Netflix be integrated into the XMB? “Late next year we expect to have an embedded solution available for PS3s via a system software update slated for release through the PlayStation Network.”
Netflix were quick to describe the disc based roll-out as the “fastest and easiest” way to get things running – presumably in time for the holiday rush. Rest assured Sony and Netflix folks will be working round the clock to get an embeddable version running.
For now though, know you can totally get Netflix on your PS3. All you need to do is order this disc for free.

Netflix Is Sure As Hell Coming To The Playstation 3.
After a few weeks of rumours, Netflix have finally confirmed that their exclusivity deal with Microsoft is over — they’re bringing movie and TV streaming to the Playstation 3. More to the point, if you have a Netflix and PSN account, the service will be free to access. “Netflix expects to begin streaming via the PS3 system next month at no additional cost to Netflix members in the United States who have a PS3 system.”
You won’t need to use your computer either — you can manage your Netflix queue directly from the PS3.
Initially Netflix will work via a disc that you can order for free from here, but it looks like Sony plan to extend the application to the XMB as soon as possible; probably alongside the next firmware update.
It’s going to be interesting to see how Microsoft responds to this. A loss of exclusivity, and a cheaper alternative. Sony really are bringing it this year aren’t they?

Netflix Bringing Streaming To The Playstation 3? It's Looking Possible.
Looks like Netflix are ready to expand their service beyond the XBOX 360. The movie rental service wouldn’t name the box they are planning to launch on, but Associated Press report it is one “already owned by a large number of consumers”. AP speculate it could be the Playstation 3 or Wii, something Netflix has spoken about in the past.
Netflix will make an announcement pretty soon, so if you’re an American Playstation owner, keep your fingers crossed they say the word “Sony”.

Netflix's CEO Has Shown Ambition To Put His Company On The Playstation 3.
One of the big draws of the XBOX 360 is its Netflix compatibility. Often touted as the blu-ray beater, Netflix’s integration is a trump card for Microsoft. Alas, Netflix are limiting themselves as a company if they are only available on one box. They know that.
Speaking with Reuters, Netflix talked about their ambition to be in all video game consoles, “Eventually we want to be on all the games consoles, all the blu-ray players, all the internet TVs. So we are working in parallel with all those efforts. Currently our Xbox deal is exclusive and we haven’t characterized it more than that,” Netflix CEO Reed Hastings stated.
We’ll have to wait until that exclusivity breaks before we can get Netflix on our Playstation 3, but it’s not looking like that day is too far away right now.
