PushSquare’s Top 50 Playstation Games ‘09: #50-#46

#46: Gran Turismo PSP on Playstation Portable.

#46: Gran Turismo PSP on Playstation Portable.

We said: “It’s impossible to describe Gran Turismo PSP as a bad game. There’s the over-riding impression that in bringing Gran Turismo to the PSP, Polyphony Digital forgot to make an actual game around it. Ironically though, flawed as it is, Gran Turismo PSP still stands heads and shoulders above most other PSP titles. It’s disappointing to the degree of what might have been, but still stellar in many regards.”

#47 Gravity Crash on Playstation 3.

#47: Gravity Crash on Playstation 3.

We said: “Gravity Crash is a decent dual-stick shooter with an excellent level editor. It’s just a shame the notion of “Play Create Share” is unhinged by the limited community options available.”

#48: Mushroom Wars on Playstation 3.

#48: Mushroom Wars on Playstation 3.

We said: “Minimalistic in style and substance, Mushroom Wars will probably prove too watered down for hardcore RTS fans. However, if you’re just looking to chill on the couch with a great looking, simplistic strategy game, Mushroom Wars delivers.”

#49: WET on Playstation 3.

#49: WET on Playstation 3.

We said: “WET is mindless and dumb. Its saving grace is its self-awareness. With its bonkers plot, intriguing presentation and Tony Hawk-esque shooting mechanics, WET is actually much more than it alludes. See, WET may be mindless and dumb, but most of all – it’s fun.”

#50: Virtua Tennis 2009 on Playstation 3.

#50: Virtua Tennis 2009 on Playstation 3.

We said: “Virtua Tennis 2009 may not move the series forward very far, but it’s immediately apparent that the formula works just as well now as it ever did. With Wimbledon around the corner, this is the perfect summer smash.”

Mushroom Wars Hitting The Playstation Store Tomorrow, Yo!

Our Press Release Described A "Quaint Visual Style". We Have To Agree.

Our Press Release Described A "Quaint Visual Style". We Have To Agree.

Our friends over at Creat Studios have announced that their Real Time Strategy game, Mushroom Wars, is hitting the Playstation Store on October 15th. That’s tomorrow, y’all.

Mushroom Wars is an – and we quote – all-ages, fast-paced, real time strategy (RTS) game that brings arcade skirmish gameplay to the forefront. Our press release also describes the game as “quaint”, which means “awesome” in our dictionary.

There are tons of levels, local multiplayer, custom soundtracks and YouTube video uploading all supported in Mushroom Wars.

Anyone planning on picking this up tomorrow. Looks like it could be a nice pace breaker in between long sessions of Uncharted 2.

Who Fancies Some Gorgeous Music & Cutesy RTS Action On Their PSN?

Well, in answer to the above question – we do. But more to the point Creat Studios do, as they’re the team behind this gorgeous nod to PixelJunk Monsters, Mushroom Wars.

Mushroom Wars is another PSN exclusive from Creat, once again proving their versatility as a development outfit with this aggression based RTS. We hope the music is as good as the tune from the trailer. We love dainty little melodies like that.

Creat Studios Extend PSN Lineup With Digger & Mushroom Wars

Mushroom Wars Almost Looks "Habbo Hotel" To Us.

Mushroom Wars Almost Looks "Habbo Hotel" To Us.

Reaffirming our affection for the loveable Creat Studios, our inbox just bulged with confirmation of two new PSN games: Digger, an HD remake of the 80’s classic, and, slightly more interesting, Mushroom Wars.

Mushroom Wars is an arcade inspired RTS with a really great look to it. Players can play through Skirmish and Campaign mode with four difficulty levels. Custom music support, VoIP and YouTube recording support will all be included.

Super excited about these releases.
