So What You’re Trying To Tell Me Is That Medal Of Honor Is Call Of Duty?

Oh look – it’s a new trailer for Medal Of Honor. It features guns, shooting and some American-dude talking about war and stuff. It looks a lot like Call Of Duty. Which is actually a good thing we suppose. Though we kind of wish someone would make a shooter about big monsters and stuff instead of military men. Oh well.

Hey Look, It's Medal Of Honor.

Hey Look, It's Medal Of Honor.

EA’s released some new screenshots for their Medal Of Honor reboot which you can catch over at Joystiq. We’d love to offer some insightful commentary, but they look exactly like you’d expect them to. It’s Medal Of Honor in a post-Call Of Duty era.

Get The Lowdown On All This Year’s Big EA Titles In One Place, Yo

EA's Announced It's Release Schedule For The Next 12 Months.

EA's Announced It's Release Schedule For The Next 12 Months.

EA dropped some big names at their financial call last night, detailing the planned release windows for a host of killer franchises over the next 12 months or so.

Amongst the big Summer titles, EA’s announced that their big, futuristic reboot Medal Of Honor is due between July and September 2010. That means you can expect a huge push at this year’s E3.

Medal Of Honor will be followed by another huge EA shooter, as Crysis 2 is due to release in the October-December window, alongside a new entry in the Need For Speed franchise, presumably the one being handled by Burnout developers Criterion.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough, EA’s detailed that Dead Space 2 will launch in Q1 of 2011 alongside a slew of unconfirmed titles, including a new Dragon Age title, a Shooter from Epic, and an unconfirmed Need For Speed title. We’re thinking Need For Speed Shift 2.

Phew. So you can basically assume that even if you just buy EA games over the next 12 months, you’re going to be broke. There’s a lot of cool stuff there.

What are you most excited for?

Medal Of Honor Actually Kinda Doesn’t Have Two Single Player Campaigns

Medal Of Honor Doesn't Actually Have Two Separate Campaigns.

Medal Of Honor Doesn't Actually Have Two Separate Campaigns.

We know we said it does, but it actually doesn’t. Blah blah. EA has clarified that their Medal Of Honor reboot doesn’t actually have two separate single-player campaigns, more over it has one seamless campaign with multiple playable characters. A bit like that other franchise. Oh darn, what’s it called? Oh yeah – Call Of Duty. Surprise!

“We want to clarify that Medal of Honor will have one seamless single player campaign, not two separate campaigns as was recently reported.  You will, however, play as multiple characters that each partake in diverse and unique experiences from both the ‘Tier 1′ and ‘Big Military’ perspectives; hence the ‘Sledgehammer’ and ‘Scalpel’ motifs that were taken out of context,” said an EA rep.

EA’s marketing for Medal Of Honor should consist of a big, size 78 comic-sans font reading: “A BIT LIKE CALL OF DUTY LOL!”

That’s not a slight though. Call Of Duty games are quite good.

Medal Of Honor Reboot To Feature Two, Yes Two, Single Player Campaigns

The Dude's Right, It Is A Game About Honor. And Their Medals.

We got more details on EA’s, ahem, modern warfare reboot of Medal Of Honor via the Lost Gamer today. The news comes as part of a feature in the latest GamesMaster magazine, where an un-named Tier 1 (a real, but strictly secret military agency) representative explained that the game is all about honor (or “honour” to Brits like us) and respect.

“After speaking with EA, we have full confidence that the product they’re making will do the subject justice,” said the Operative (un-named for fairly obvious reasons).

“It’s a game about honor, above all. If you look at the font of the logo it’s the word that stands out above all others.”

On the subject of the single-player, Medal Of Honor will be divided into two campaigns: the Elite Op missions are set to be more selective objective missions, while the Sledgehammer campaign’s missions will offer a more open-ended, larger scale scenario.

The game’s due this year.

Medal Of Honor To Feature Multiple Playable Characters

According to information just stuck up on CVG’s website (from the upcoming OXM magazine), the upcoming Medal Of Honor reboot will feature multiple playable characters, aswell as tactical gameplay that has you taking out lights in order to approach situations in night vision.

Amazingly the game will also feature sprinting and knife melee. More in the latest issue of OXM (sigh) and presumably online in the coming weeks.
