Bioshock 2 Takes The UK Charts’ Top Spot, Bayonetta Re-Enters

Bioshock 2: "Unneccessary" But Apparently Still A Big Deal.

Bioshock 2: "Unnecessary" But Apparently Still A Big Deal.

Apparently Bioshock is still a big deal, as Bioshock 2 has shot straight to the top of the UK charts, removing previous leader Mass Effect 2. Interestingly, after a slew of price-cuts (and perhaps that Playstation 3 patch), Bayonetta has re-entered the charts in number 10 (up from 36). Elsewhere, Fifa 10 and Modern Warfare 2 are still strong propositions.

The Mass Effect Franchise Has To Come To PS3 At Some Point – “Twiggy” The PushSquare Opinionator

Mass Effect Is Coming To The Playstation 3 In Some Form. It Has To.

Mass Effect Is Coming To The Playstation 3 In Some Form. It Has To.

This week news broke that there is redundant PS3 code in the PC version of Mass Effect 2. Naturally this brought up a whole host of rumours that Bioware had a PS3 version of the game running somewhere, and it was only a matter of time before one of the year’s highest rated games hit Sony’s machine. Bioware were quick to dispell the myths, reiterating the game as “PC and XBOX 360 only.” Does it really make sense for the franchise to stay that way though?

Clutching At Straws: Mass Effect 2 Source-Code Hints At Playstation 3 Version

Mass Effect 2's Source Code Hints At A Playstation 3 Version.

Mass Effect 2's Source Code Hints At A Playstation 3 Version.

If you ever wanted to clutch at straws regarding the release of an “exclusive” game, then now is the time. A cracked piece of Mass Effect 2 source code seems to retain two-lines of code retaining to the apparent existence of a Playstation 3 version of the game.

Source code from the PC version of the game, reads:

[SFXGame.BioSFHandler_CharacterR?ecord2]
m_nMaxRenegade=1900
m_nMaxParagon=1957
m_srXPFormat=340881
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessageXBox?=348754
m_srParagonRenegadeMessageXBox=3?48755
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessagePC=3?48753
m_srParagonRenegadeMessagePC=348?755
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessagePS3=?348755
m_srParagonRenegadeMessagePS3=15?3007

You’re looking for the bottom six lines of code, each belonging to the “XBox”, “PC”, and – whut? – “PS3″ versions of the game. At the very least, if not a coincidence, this means there is a PS3 version of the game somewhere. Of course, it could be mean nothing at all.

We’re still holding hope for a Mass Effect/Mass Effect 2 blu-ray compilation pack a little later in the year. EA may aswell, it’ll surely sell a million or so copies.

Bioware: A “Few” Playstation 3 Titles Are In The Works; Cross Your Fingers For Mass Effect

Bioware Have A Few Playstation 3 Projects In The Works.

Bioware Have A Few Playstation 3 Projects In The Works.

As a Playstation fan, it’s been pretty gut-wrenching to see those exceptional Mass Effect 2 scores roll in. Not because we want the PC/XBOX 360 title to fail; but because we know we’re not going to be able to play it on PS3. Yet.

Still, with EA owning all publishing rights for the Mass Effect IP, we can always pray that a port of both the original game and its sequel will arrive on Sony’s black behemoth at some point.

Lending hope to our prayers, Bioware’s Ray Muzyka has confirmed that his company have Playstation 3 projects in development via a webchat on Eurogamer.

“I can say that we’ve got a few titles in development for PS3 right now, as well as a few for 360, across the studios I manage. But I won’t say what they are, since not all of them have been announced yet,” he said.

“Dragon Age was our first title for PS3, and it’s done really well. PS3 is a great system and we enjoy developing for it, much as we enjoy developing for 360 and PC and other platforms.”

Please be Mass Effect. Please be Mass Effect.

Bioware Continue To Deny Mass Effect 2 On Playstation 3

We Reckon We'll Have More To Say About Mass Effect 2 In The Future.

We Reckon We'll Have More To Say About Mass Effect 2 In The Future.

The ongoing sub-drama of Mass Effect 2’s potential appearance on the Playstation 3 goes on. Everytime the question’s raised, a less than convincing answer is given. This time it’s  Bioware’s Greg Zeschuck who is pressed on the possibility of a Playstation 3 port on GTTV. His response? “We’re not saying anything.”

That Playstation 3 port continues to look more and more likely, but we guess time will tell.

Mass Effect 2 PS3 Surely A Case Of When Not If?

Mass Effect Still Hasn't Been Announced For The Playstation 3, But The Rumours Keep On Mounting.

Mass Effect Still Hasn't Been Announced For The Playstation 3, But The Rumours Keep On Mounting.

More Mass Effect 2 rumours breaking. Treat as rumour for now folks, but surely we’re all developing our own opinion on this long running story by now?

Speaking in Poland this week, Bioware’s Jay Watamaniuk mentioned the Playstation 3 as a demographic for their product. Polygamia reports:

During the presentation, Watamaniuk mentioned three platforms that Mass Effect 2 is targeted at. They were Xbox 360, PC and “probably PS3″.

Watamaniuk has since back-tracked, claiming the game is only announced for XBOX 360 and PC. This whole thing is getting a little predictable now, right?

Mass Effect 2 On The Playstation 3? EA Claim “Error”, We’re Not So Sure

Surely Not The Last Time We Post About Mass Effect.

Surely Not The Last Time We Post About Mass Effect.

EA have been very hesitant about Mass Effect in the past. If you want our opinion (heck, that’s why you’re reading), we’d say the franchise is coming to the Playstation 3 at some point. Whether that means timed XBOX 360/PC exclusivity, a port of the original game or day and date PS3 release of Mass Effect 2, we certainly think it’s coming.

Yet despite EA Russia (and GAME Australia) listing the game for PS3, EA are claiming that’s just an error and the pages have since been removed.

Still, don’t say we didn’t warn you when something Mass Effect/PS3 pops up over the next 4 or 5 months.
