Still Hanging With Niko? Why Not Hang With The Dudes Who Made Him?

Rockstar are holding a multiplayer event for Grand Theft Auto IV tonight on the Playstation 3. It’s a doubles event so you’ll need to buddy up with someone who hasn’t turned on GTA’s campaign just yet. It’s running from like, 9PM to 12AM here in the UK (from 4PM EST).

You’ll need to add the following PSN names:

  • RockstarMulti1
  • RockstarMulti2
  • RockstarMulti3
  • RockstarMulti4

Then obviously access the multiplayer via Niko’s phone and hit Team Deathmatch.

We won’t be playing though. We like Grand Theft Auto IV plenty (we ain’t no hater, yo) but the multiplayer is utter fucking tripe.

There'll Be Disco Dancing In Episodes From Liberty City.

After a period of exclusivity on the XBOX 360, the highly acclaimed Grand Theft Auto DLC, Episodes From Liberty City, is coming to the Playstation 3 this March. This the DLC that Microsoft paid a whopping $50million to keep exclusive.

“It’s been a long time coming, but we are proud to finally deliver Episodes From Liberty City for the PC and PlayStation 3,” said Sam Houser. “We appreciate the patience of our PlayStation 3 and PC fans worldwide, and we look forward to putting the games in your hands this March.”

The DLC will be available online or on a disc.

Rockstar Has Pledged A Great Year For Playstation 3 Support.

During the “Asked & Answered” aspect of Rockstar’s website, the company have pledged a “very good” year for Playstation 3 users.

When prompted about the exclusivity of the Grand Theft Auto IV DLC, Rockstar responded with positivity for Playstation 3 users, stating, “We know that it continues to be an often-asked question – and believe us, we understand the frustration of PS3 owners like yourself who haven’t been able to play any of our most recent releases. All we can say is that we at Rockstar promise to be very good to you with our releases in 2010. Please stay with us and stay tuned!”

We bet you the first thing to pop up will be those GTA IV episodes. Followed by Agent.

Analyst Suggests The Unsuggestable, Grand Theft Auto May Have Peaked

Are You Still Excited About The GTA Franchise & Liberty City?

Are You Still Excited About The GTA Franchise & Liberty City?

We loved Grand Theft Auto IV as much as the next guy, but in all honesty, going back to the game in recent months is hard work. We played for 10 minutes, noticed how sluggish it all was, and put the game back in its box. It’ll probably never see the light of day again.

It’s an odd case, as a game that represented a snap-shot in time. Brilliant within its first month of release, but almost unplayable now. With so much negative spin around the franchise these days from similarly disappointed GTAIV fans, one analyst reckons its time might be up.

“Has the Grand Theft Auto franchise peaked? Given the strength of GTA IV in 2008, the question may seem misplaced, but our concern is that the very highly rated new GTA content for Xbox as well as PSP and DS did not perform up to expectations in 2009,” AmTech analyst Ben Schachter noted.

“Now, we very clearly understand that these do not represent ‘true’ new GTA titles. However, the fact is that these were compelling titles, attractively priced, and reasonably well-promoted, yet they fell relatively flat.”

Rumour: Is Grand Theft Auto: The Lost & Damned Already Playable On The Playstation 3?

Will PS3 Owners Finally Get To Experience The GTA DLC?

Will PS3 Owners Finally Get To Experience The GTA DLC?

Don’t take it as fact folks but Playstation Community mod Yaster apparently has confirmation of Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost & Damned being playable on the Playstation 3 at GamesCom.

“And they [Rockstar] were certainly showing some PS3 love – Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned was available to play in a special 18+ area, we didn’t manage to get our hands on it due to the MASSIVE queue – but those inside looked pretty ***** excited.’”

VG247 have also picked up on a strategy guide for second DLC pack The Ballad Of Gay Tony being listed for PS3.

The Scope Of DLC Is Changing – “Twiggy” The PushSquare Opinator

Services Like The PSN Are Keeping Games Relevant For Longer.

I write this grudgingly. Almost as grudgingly as having to give away the last Ferrero Rocher in a pack. You see as I’m typing this, I could be playing the new Wipeout HD Fury pack. That makes me kind of furious. But at the very least my feelings have helped me conjure up a topic for this week’s opinator, namely; the scope of DLC is changing.

Shadow Of The Colossus Designer Talks Grand Theft Auto & Super Mario Galaxy

Team Ico's Fumito Ueda Isn't The Biggest Fan Of Super Mario Galaxy.

Team Ico's Fumito Ueda Isn't The Biggest Fan Of Super Mario Galaxy.

We hold no secrets in stating that our favourite game this generation is Super Mario Galaxy. Yes, we’re a Playstation website but to us, Mario Galaxy is perfection. Alas, Team Ico’s Fumito Ueda does not agree. He cites a particular section of Galaxy which was apparently inspired by Fumito’s Shadow Of The Colossus (the giant robot boss) as a basis for his critique:

“Yes I have played it, it was hard to not to since it was rumored that Miyamoto-san was inspired by me. But I had expected more, that segment [SIC], was like the rest of the game not so fun as it could had been. I think the fans made a big deal out of nothing when they said Miyamoto had stolen from me. The thing I am critical over isnt that they didn’t borrow anything that isn’t unique for my game, but that they didn’t make more fun stages out of it.”

Not the biggest Super Mario Galaxy fan then. As for Grand Theft Auto IV Ueda laments the lack of innovation and similarity to previous GTA games.

Ueda is currently hard at work on the The Last Guardian.
